The car is loaded so that means a trip to MO is about to happen. What day? I have no idea. If it were up to me, it would be tomorrow!
The movers don’t want to carry anything liquid in their trucks so either I carry all the liquid (Best Press, canned food in jars, oil for the freeze dryer) in my car or, I believe it’s ok to put those in the U-Haul trucks and we’ll have one or two of those, but I’d rather bring the jars of canned food in my car. I believe I have 28 cases of jars in the car this trip. That will be fun to unpaid and haul down the stairs. Vince had moved four cases at a time on the hand truck but I imagine going down the hill to the basement door, he’ll only carry three at a time. If I’m doing it, I’ll unpack some of the quarts and bring about half a case in at a time and haul those downstairs, then go back for the other half case. The pints and half pints I’m not real concerned about carrying downstairs.
I’d rather move my own quilts too so a bunch of those are in the car. I have a couple of hand quilted quilts made by my mom, and a hand quilted quilt made by “Aunt Margaret” who isn’t really my aunt but she’s a wonderful lady and I’ll always cherish the quilt she gave me.
Lots of stuff . . and we’ve only just begun!

Question? Does Vince have a handtruck? Could stack those boxes of canned goods on it and roll down the side of the house to the walk-in basement.
Judy Laquidara says
I mentioned that in the post – he carries four cases from the house to the car in Texas but it’s a pretty steep slope going down to the basement door so he’ll probably only carry three cases but sometimes I’ll be there by myself and I doubt I would try the hand truck.
Elle says
oops. totally missed that word truck. I was imaging him carrying 4 cases by hand. 🙁
Judy Laquidara says
That’s ok. He’s always had a hand truck here and didn’t want to take it to MO and need it here so one of the first things he bought there was a hand truck so eventually, we’ll have two there.

Beautiful quilt by the jars. Have a safe trip when you go.

Yes, I wouldn’t trust my quilts to anyone, either. My own U-Haul I drove, maybe. =)

I have giant blue bags from the last time I moved. I bring them in my car to my kiddo’s house and they are stored till I am settled. I lost a PA-type woven bedspread on one of my moves for being too careless with it. My quilts are too valuable to me to trust anyone with them so I move them myself. Only have to go about 10 miles with them for this move so should be easy. Not sure what I will do with so many in a smaller (somewhat) house this time. But, I love handling them all over again. And I’m waiting on mail with more fabric so I can hit the ground running when the move is done. Quilting keeps the world going round for me, or knitting, or cross stitching. I understand there is an active quilt group where I am moving, and my own quilty friends will be a lot closer as are the quilt shops.

I have one of that Aunt Margaret’s hand quilted quilts on my guest bed.
Judy Laquidara says
I don’t use mine on our bed because of Rita but I keep it on a quilt rack in our room. Love that quilt!
