Whew! This day has flown by but I could write that about every day. We had planned to go back to Texas yesterday but then decided to go today, then decided to go tomorrow, now . . I think we may wait til next week. The more I live my life here, the more I think . . just leave the rest of that stuff there and don’t go back for it but there are sewing machines, a longarm, Boots, yarn, canned food . . I do have to go back.
I’ve talked to my parents and my uncle’s stepdaughter, who I really feel like I should call my cousin. She’s better to him than most daughters are to their dads. Everyone is fine in their little evacuation locations. My parents are in Texas, not far from our house there actually. Well, by Texas standards not far. Dad said “We’re waiting in line with 1,000 people to eat!” I’m sure it wasn’t 1,000 people but I’m betting there are a lot of evacuees there. My uncle is at his place on the lake, and I think he should have gone farther north or even come here and I’m betting in about 7 or 8 hours, he’s going to be wishing the same thing.
I have a friend and a couple who had planned to stay. The couple, when they heard what the storm surge was going to be, decided to leave. My friend was not sure what she was going to do the last time I talked to her.
Vince went to town this morning because he needed a circular saw so he went out alone and somehow, ended up at an antique mall. He came back wanting me to go back to the antique mall for some piece of furniture he had found. I didn’t want to go, kept saying no and then he said the magic words .. I’ll take you out to eat Mexican food! OK . . That did it. We ate Mexican and went to the antique mall but didn’t get anything.
Came home, I’ve washed clothes, vacuumed the main level, and then Vince said “What’s for dinner?” Huh? If we eat out for lunch, we don’t usually eat dinner so I said “Bacon, egg, cheese and tomato sandwiches on rye bread”. He thought that was a grand idea and didn’t know I just came up with the weird combination on the spur of the moment.
Now we’re going downstairs to see if we can watch some hurricane coverage. And then I may go to bed early because I’ve been tired all day. Besides the lawn mower incident, Vince had a nightmare at 4 a.m. and was screaming and that woke me up and I hadn’t really gone back to sleep when the lawn mower happened. So . . I’m sleep deprived. Tonight I’ll probably be awake half the night (or more) watching hurricane news.
The good news is that I may finish my cowl if we stay up long enough watching TV. I haven’t had any knitting time today.

I hate nights like that. Praying for all in the path of the storm. And that you have a restful, uneventful night.

You have to go back to Texas. I am waiting with bated breath to see where you finally find those long lost cookie molds. LOL

You and me both!

I am guessing I’ve missed a post or two. You and Vince have moved back to Missouri permanently? What town? I’m guessing somewhere near Joplin?

I almost asked you why you didn’t just stay in MO and forget about Texas–have an auction, etc. Then I remembered the longarm, the cat, all that fabric. 🙂 🙂

Yes. A lot of things I could easily part with but a lot of things I’d forever be sorry I gave up.
