If you’re a praying kind of friend, I have a lot of family and friends in southwest Louisiana who could use prayers. Hurricane Laura is a real threat to folks along the Louisiana/Texas line and wherever it may head from there. My parents and uncle are elderly and I can hear the fear in their voices. They all sound like they’re on the verge of tears and I hate it for them.
My parents are leaving with my niece and her husband/family. My uncle is leaving with his stepdaughter (who is definitely like any devoted daughter!). I’ve offered them all to come to MO if the storm creates a lot of damage and they need a long term place to stay.
Chad leaves in the morning to go wherever they’re needed. Their first scheduled stop is Houston but if Houston is spared and other parts need them, they’ll be sent wherever they need to be.
No matter where it hits, there’s going to be lots of heartache somewhere.
Diana says
Prayers going up for all. We don’t have hurricanes, just lots of fires, closest one to us is about 70 miles away. Hugs,
Chris says
Prayers for your family and also for you as you think about those you love. Maybe you got your Missouri house just in time? ?
Elle says
I’m so sorry. Praying for your family.
Dottie Newkirk says
Definitely keeping all in my prayers.
Shari says
Praying for sure.
Teri says
Praying for all in the storms path.
Carolyn says
I had already thought of your family and please know they are in my prayers.
Paula Nordt says
I am praying for all. We live southwest of Houston. Best place for us to ride it out has always been right here. But I’m definitely praying for the areas east of us, especially Louisiana. I spent a good chunk of each summer with relatives in New Orleans.
Paula Nordt says
Oh, and many thanks to Chad and others like him who ride into the danger zones to help out with repairs.
Judy Laquidara says
Thank you.
Rose says
Thinking of your whanau (family) & others, sending best wishes from Christchurch, New Zealand. Can only imagine the fear they must be feeling (we don’t get the big storms that overseas countries endure). Much love x
Liz says
Added to the prayer list.
If you have family staying with you on a long term basis, I still have an Aerobed (somewhere), though it is the lower size one. The newer ones are taller. Or, you can get a few online for emergency purposes. I even saw a camp bed with the air mattress.
Take care… it still could impact the SW corner of MO.
Judy Laquidara says
It could but it looks doubtful now. We’re planning to leave Thursday morning and head back to Texas. We have three queen size beds here and a queen air bed (a taller one) so I’m thinking we could handle about however many need to stay here.
cindy says
Prayers for all concerned. I have many friends and family members in and around Houston and south central Texas. I also have family in the New Orleans area. Maybe God has blessed you with two houses right now to be able to help your family. I don’t know, but I do believe that He takes bad things and works them for good.
Judy Laquidara says
We will see how it all plays out. I think central Texas should be ok. In fact, we’re headed there Thursday unless the hurricane changes paths.
Marilyn Smith says
Judy, I have had your parents and Uncle in my thoughts and prayers and I am praying for them. Watching the weather channel from burning up CA (we are fine-our fire was about 2 weeks ago). But, also keeping our Vicky in our prayers. Have not heard back from her yet. Where are they all heading for?
Judy Laquidara says
Parents are going to west Texas. Uncle is going to north Louisiana. Vicky should be ok where she is. Chad was scheduled to go to near where Vicky lives but they’ve been re-assigned to the Houston area.
Nelle Coursey says
Praying for all those people on the coast. I have friends and family in La also. Praying they are safe and no losses to them. Also praying for everyone else in the path of the storm! From what I hear, I think it is going to be bad.
Suzette Harris says
I hope all escape personal and property damage from these storms. I’m curious about chad doing lineman work in addition to his regular job. How does that work?
Betty says
Prayers for all affected by this storm. We are in Central Louisana with family in Texas and Mississippi. So I am certainly praying for all!
Sandi B says
Praying for them and you. And all in the path of Laura – and the fires in the west.
Cheryl says
Prayers for your families safety ??
Donna in KS says
Your parents had been in my thoughts. Now they will be in my prayers, your uncle and other family and Chad as he is away to provide help where needed. You, Judy, also, I pray you will be at peace as your family endures this storm. I pray for all that will be affected by Laura. We have family in LA now too, though they are farther north.
PamO says
Living on the southeast coast, I truly understand a hurricane as well as the need for electrical grid work repairs.
Prayers for your family in harms way and prayers for Chad as he helps those who need his help. Hugs to you.
Cindy F says
Sending prayers!
Bon says
The people in the path of the storms are in my prayers as are those in the paths of the fires in the west. What a year this has turned out to be. Praying also for Chad and those who go in after the storms or fight the fires that God would keep them safe.
Sherry in NC says
Prayers for all!
Laura Haynes says
LORD, have mercy! Then, lead the people to help one another as they can.
sue says
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I’ve been hoping you wouldn’t be traveling back to Texas right now. Bless Chad for the work he and his people do for so many.
Karen Sutton says
I was thinking of your parents and uncle last night as I watched the national news. I’ve added them to my prayer list. I’m glad their leaving but I know that’s a hard thing to do.
Amy Frances Makson says
PRayers for all in the path. And in CA, Iowa…such sad and scary times.
Linda in NE says
May everyone in the path of this storm be safe and suffer minimal damage to their homes & properties.
barbara woods says
Worried about my grand daughter in Houston, Texas
Judy Laquidara says
I’m not a meteorologist but if the storm stays on the same path, and it looks like it will at this point, I don’t think Houston is going to have a problem, other than maybe flooding if they get a lot of rain.
Dorothy Matheson says
Yes I am on the west side of the storm and 300 miles from the coast. We are already getting a little rain.
Much needed rain here. Prayers for all who are affected by this storm.
Twyla says
Judy, I have been thinking of your family and praying for all those in this hurricane. There is so much to think about having to do like mail, utilities when you are leaving just for vacation. Isn’t it a unforeseen blessing that ya’ll purchased this home at this time just in case family needs a place to stay?
Susan Nixon says
Of course, and for Chad’s safety, too.
