Cleaning Tip

You know I’m not the best at cleaning so you have to appreciate when I have a cleaning tip for you!

A year or so ago, I was in TJ Max in Joplin and found a little mini drain snake.

With my dryer, the lint often seemed to escape the lint trap and kept getting poked farther and farther down and Vince would have to take the whole thing apart every year or so and clean it out. I thought this little drain snake would be perfect for “snaking” around in the dryer lint trap area and getting out any pieces that got loose from the filter. It has worked like a charm. The new dryer in MO seems to have the same issue with lint escaping so I’ve used it already on there.

The brush part actually feels a lot like a mascara type brush so it shouldn’t be rough enough to do any damage in the area but . . use your own judgment.

Because you may not have a TJ Max near you and because they never seem to have the same things twice, I found these at Amazon and for a package of three, that makes them less each than what I paid for one.

I have used one of these for years, but it is time for me to replace the plastic hose going outside. I think those get full of lint as well. I found out years ago that this lint can catch fire and cause a house fire! So I try to clean it as often as I can!

Depending on the length of the hose and outlet pipe, I have used a leaf blower to clean out the lines from the dryer. The leaf blower also works great for defrosting an old freezer.
