First, I think it’s kinda crazy that packages get delivered on Sunday. If it were up to me, we’d get mail once or twice a week. What comes these days that’s so important the mail has to be delivered every day? We probably aren’t the average people but we go for days that we don’t get mail – not even junk mail. Most everything that matters comes through email. I suppose that opens up a whole different issue – what happens when/if the internet goes down for an extended time.
I was very shocked the first time I was at Chad’s and saw the mail man walk up to the door on a Sunday. You know I never know what day it is so I grabbed my phone and sure enough . . it was Sunday. I asked Nicole – why on earth is the mail man here on a Sunday and she told me they deliver priority mail packages and Amazon Prime packages on Sunday. Imagine that. It reminded me of the time my dad’s mom, who was very opinionated (explains a lot about me, right?) was talking about NASA landing a man on the moon. I was staying at her house and was dating a guy in her town (Many, Louisiana) and he was there. She, as always, had waited up for us to get home and the 10:00 news was on and they were talking about Neil Armstrong. Granny said “You know he isn’t on the moon. They got him hid out in Texas somewhere and they’re just telling us that!” I about gasped but . . that was Granny at her best.
That’s about how I felt when Nicole told me the mail man was bringing packages on Sunday – disbelief! But now, even though we’re rural, we’re not quite so rural and today we received a Sunday delivery. Vince walked out and saw it and said “We never opened the front door yesterday. We had a package!” Vince, we had company last night and they came through the front door!
I told him about the packages being delivered on Sunday and I’m still not sure he believes me.

We’ve never had a package delivered on Sunday, but we don’t have Prime and nobody important ever sends us anything, so we don’t have to worry about it. We’ll NEVER get mail on Sunday!! 🙂 🙂

I get packages Almost every day from Amazon. I order everything I need. I live 7 Miles from a distribution center and often get things in one day. It saves me the time I’d have to spend shopping, I can find just about anything I need and it sure saves gas and wer and ter on my car. More time to quilt or knit or….
And saves me being tempted to buy something I see but don’t need
This may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it sure is mine…and Sunday deliveries work for me
Just put up a table in close quarters with sharp corners…found corner guards at Amazon and I’ll have ethem in 2 days

I understand that. It’s so much easier, especially these days, to shop online and not go from store to store. I just hate seeing people have to work on Sunday, which still seems like a family day to me. Retail has long been accepted but I remember when nothing was open on Sunday.

I received part of an order today (Sunday) that I placed less than 24 hours before. Absolutely nothing urgent, but it’s nice to have it!
Now I’m going to see where the nearest distribution center is.

The US postal system feels a need to compete with other delivery services, so they’ve been doing Sunday deliveries for the last couple of years…

I didn’t know Fed Ex or UPS delivered on Sunday unless it was overnight and the cost was high for that service but I kinda doubt any of that is available as far out as we were living. Just seems kinda crazy to pay for regular priority mail and get Sunday delivery but I guess for some people, it’s important.

Sunday deliveries have become commonplace here in central California. I remember the days when we never, ever saw a postal service truck out on Sunday. Still seems a bit odd.

We have had packages and priority mail delivered on Sunday also. Amazon uses the USPS and when you live in town they do make the deliveries on Sunday. May do that outside the city as well, don’t know.
Judy Laquidara says
They do it outside the city limits in MO because we got a package Sunday but they may not go terribly far out because I don’t believe they deliver as far out as our house in TX.

I really hate that people have to work on Sunday to deliver things that could just wait another day. I’m sure there are some post people who are happy to have the extra hours and make it a work day, but it doesn’t seem right to me. Your grandmother must have been fun during conversations. =)
