Do I feel like we’re living the life of luxury? We ate in a restaurant today. Since the end of February, we ate out once on my birthday in early June and then again today. That’s twice in almost six months.
This morning I really wanted to go to Target and look for curtains for the bathroom and blinds for the breakfast room windows.
We ate breakfast. Vince was hemming and hawing about going out. It’s Saturday. It’s going to be crowded. Then he decided to work on the internet.
The Internet:
They hooked up the internet Thursday. They need to come bury a new line but they have to call the people to come out and mark the lines so the installer said “It isn’t great but it will do til we can get the new line in a week or so.” It worked Thursday. Friday morning, it didn’t work. Vince called them (Mediacom). They said they would have someone out that day between 1 and 5 p.m. and sure enough, a guy came out. He was here well over two hours. In the attic, moving the block ceiling tiles, trying to find a splitter he thought was causing an issue. He did find it! He was amazing.
Not only do we have limited internet – limited data I guess you call it, but we have to rent their modem, their router and their extender (and I think two of those things are either together or one and the same because we’re only renting two things) to get internet to most of the house. Some of the house just isn’t ever going to have it. That’s ok. The second guy who came out said “No! You can send back our modem/router/extender. There’s a label in the box it all came in. Buy your own and it will work fine.” Over a period of about three or four months, it costs less to have bought your own so Vince went out yesterday and bought whatever we needed.
This morning he wanted to get it all hooked up to see if it would work and I understood that so we hung around the house, he got that all working, then we went out.
With school starting back up either next week or the next week in this area, it was a total zoo. Every place we went was packed. I know Vince wanted to say “You had a BAD idea coming out today!” so I said it for him and we vowed to never leave the house on Saturday again.
But, while out, we sat in the car and debated about eating out and decided to do it. We went to Magic Noodle.
I’ve eaten there a couple of times with Chad but Vince had never eaten there and he was really happy with it too.
This place will be one of our favorites. The people are super nice and the food was great. I doubt we eat out again for a while but it did feel good to eat food I didn’t cook.

Are the public schools going to open there? They are going to be on-line only here. Do you still take Covid precautions when you go out or is it not as big of a concern as in Texas?
Judy Laquidara says
The public schools are planning to open in MO. Yes. We wear masks, use hand sanitizer, try to stay away from people. We’ve had to go out more than normal just because we need things for the house (mop, broom, food, etc.) but we’re not going out any more than we have to.

That food looks AMAZING!!!!!!! We may have to venture to the neighborhood Thai place 😉 We have braved patio dining a few times (we eat early so no others out there). And we’ve done some curbside.

Even in “normal times I didn’t like to go out on a Saturday
Judy Laquidara says
Us either but with us being in MO and having only the few things we brought in my car, and needing things we want to do in the house, there are trips to town and weekends are no exceptions right now.

I’m with Marsha…don’t do any shopping on Saturday. If I do shopping in larger stores in a bigger town it’s on Tues. or Wed. Those were my days off when I was working. It worked then and it’s still my chosen days for shopping now. Simply because of less people around.
Judy Laquidara says
We normally don’t either but life is a bit different from normal for us right now. We’ll get settled and go back to staying home and only going out early on weekdays.

We ate out today for the first time since early March. It was pizza at the golf course with one daughter’s family after a round of golf. We were the only people in the clubhouse for most of that time, other than the young lady working. But it felt so nice to actually order food and eat it there. We’ve done takeout maybe a dozen times since this started. Our Covid numbers are fairly low here, so I’m not feeling too paranoid right now. But with school starting next week we’ll see how things go.

Your meal looks delicious! I think it would be one of our favorite places, too! Enjoy!

We even went back and at there again yesterday.
