Some days I hesitate to say what I think . . rarely, but it does happen. 🙂 I never want anyone to think we have no problems in our life – we do have little issues from time to time. Every now and then, we have big issues but so far, we’ve worked through them but lately, things have been so good, but yesterday, I kinda felt like it was the best day we’ve had in forever.
We had picked Addie up on Wednesday so she’s been here a couple of nights. Nicole was off yesterday so she drove over yesterday morning. I had a turkey breast I had brought from Texas so I roasted that, made dressing, let Addie choose another vegetable. She picked those nasty little canned peas. She said “If you don’t like them, why did you buy them?” and I told her I use them in Rita’s food so now she thinks we were eating dog food and she’ll probably never eat them again.
After we ate, Nicole and Addie went to Addie’s room and took a nap. I told Vince – this is what family is all about. They come and eat and then they feel comfortable enough to go take a nap. Addie went back home with Nicole because they have some school related things to do next week.
Later, the people we bought the house from came by. They are such nice people. The more we talked to them, and the more they told us about extra things they did in the house, the more we love this place. He was telling Vince that when they talked to a realtor, she told him that the first thing someone would do was come in and paint the cabinets and it made them kinda sad. When you sell a house, you’re really done with it and have no say but still . . I remember when people painted my purple house blue and I wanted to go ask them what on earth were they thinking . . but didn’t.
Vince told him the cabinets would never get painted as long as we live here because I wouldn’t even consider a house with painted cabinets (except I have one in Texas). Every morning while in MO, I walk into that kitchen and am so thankful for the space and the cabinets, and the double ovens, and for being so close to Addie, and for being in a place where Vince is comfortable and happy.
There were some questions about the house that Vince had and they answered everything to our satisfaction. We got in bed last night and Vince . . who had once said “I’m not moving back to Missouri – I don’t care if they’re GIVING away houses” said: To have gotten this house at this time from these people – it all feels so right. And it does and right now, I feel so blessed.
I complained way too much about being so far from Chad, Nicole and Addie but to get this place, and have it be a place where Vince can be happy . . I can finally say it was worth the wait.

Judy, I am so happy for you…….the house looks perfect, and being close to Addy, Chad and Nicole is priceless. Nothing better than family, especially in times like these.

Oh, I am crying when reading your post, I am so happy for you! And the picture you posted is perfect for conveying what you are feeling about the house. I can see you walk in the kitchen with a smile on your face, knowing Addie is in her room and Vince is maybe in his chair, both happy, you happy that your family is now together, in a home you love. I can’t add enough happy emojis to make it clear how happy I am for you!!! 🙂

Can’t begin to tell you how happy I am for you and Vince as well as Chad, Nicole & Addie. I guess all good things do come to those who wait:)

I’ll admit to being a bit jealous when I saw the picture of your kitchen, but still happy for you that you found something so nice The best part is that you’re near family, and really…isn’t that what it’s all about?!! When you have family, you have everything you need. Two of my three children live within 20 minutes of us, so even though I have real issues with the house we’re in, at least family is close. 🙂

I took a nap with my great grand-daughter at their house about a month ago. I told my grandson he needed to know they had a comfortable home and it was quite welcoming for me to lie down and take a nap.

YEA you! You’ve worked hard. You’ve played hard. You’ve been (patiently?) waiting for the home that you could both be happy moving into. You’ve never given me the impression your life has no issues. You are most deserved of life getting better and better! I can’t wait for you to be fully moved and living “your best life”. 🙂

So happy for you and glad to see things coming together.Just my two cents on kitchen cabinets etc- I am so tired of the INDUSTRY telling us what we like, want, need, have to have just so they can make money. I LOVE my oak cabinets and hardwood floors (almost 18 years old now) and I’m sure if we tried to sell we’d be told we have to “update”. Funny thing is- I had painted cabinets in our first house, and after a few years the finish comes off and they looked dingy. For us. Just us. Bottom line is – to each their own, and stop letting others tell you what you want. Whew! Sorry, had to get that off my chest. Your kitchen and whole house look lovely and I hope you and yours will be happy for a long, long time.

It’s nice when good things happen to good people! Did you say something once about maybe taking care of Addie so she didn’t have to be in daycare all day while her mom worked? Just wondering how the moving will affect all of that.

Judy, your kitchen is beautiful! So happy for you to have found the perfect place for you and Vince.

Spreading joy magnifies it, so go right ahead and appreciate what you’ve got!

So very happy for you and your family. My house was never “decorated” and has not been updated. I don’t care what the next people want, they can worry about that. It is comfortable for me.
Judy Laquidara says
That’s exactly how I feel. If I painted the cabinets white, the next people would want them gray. I believe in making necessary repairs but not trying to second guess what the next homeowners will want. Our two extra bedrooms in Texas have carpet and it needed to be replaced when we moved in. Never happened. We’ll offer a floor covering allowance and they can do what they’d like.

I am so glad this worked out for you both! I love your kitchen! I wish I had that much storage space! The people who had this house before the one we bought it from, did some weird things to it! Some of the things, there is no rhyme or reason for them. I do love all the space you have. Our house was built in 1937 so it is very sturdy. One of the men who put the roof on our house last time said if it had not been built with the sturdy wood it would not still be standing! I love it though. There are still lots of things I want to do but just haven’t done it yet. Too many things happening and I don’t want to get into something and have something come up.

Almost all those little things I always want to do . . after I’ve been living somewhere for a while, I decide they aren’t really worth doing and never get done. Our homes are what we make of them and they don’t have to be big to be a delightful place. All I have to do is figure out a way to stop adding “stuff” that will soon cause even this kitchen to be bulging at the seams.
