Rita woke up at 5 a.m. It must be the meds she’s been taking but she’s waking up four or five times a night and we both usually end up waking up; one of us will take her out but it makes for two tired people when we’re up that many times per night.
Originally the vet gave us 10 days worth of meds but then extended it and added some but I told Vince this morning to stop giving her all of them and let’s see what happens. Yesterday she was also panting and wanting water all the time and today she isn’t doing that so I think ending the meds was a good thing but we’ll watch her and make sure she seems ok.
Yesterday was the day we headed back to Texas. I knew we might run into rain. We so rarely see rain and we never drive when it’s raining. I don’t think it’s rained a drop at our Texas location since the first or second week in June.
We made it all the way to Missouri before we ran into rain.
Just as we got almost to Joplin, it was getting really cloudy but the clouds were beautiful.
As we got almost to Joplin, the bottom just fell out and we were driving in heavy rain. Everyone seemed to slow down and be careful so it wasn’t too bad.
By the time we got to the house, the rain had stopped but it was wet and humid!
Today we went back to Nevada, got another load out of the apartment, picked Addie up, drove back to the house, unloaded the car, went to Jopli (which is only about 5 miles away). First stop was to order new double cylinder locks for all the doors, to Aldi to get groceries for our meals, went to Walmart and picked up a few things (a corkscrew among other things!) and now I think we’re in for the next day or so. We have so much to do but . . how do you eat an elephant? 🙂

Was Rita taking prednisone? Her symptoms sound just like my little schnauzer’s where she was so sick. You guys are putting on some miles!

One bite at a time.

You guys are really working your butts off! How does Vince like the house and his new shop? Did you bring Rita’s bassinet?
Judy Laquidara says
We bought a second one for here. We’ll need one for the basement bedroom, where we’ll sleep sometimes, and for the main level master so having two won’t be bad and it’s so much easier than carrying one back and forth.
Judy Laquidara says
I think for now Vince is a bit overwhelmed with all that we have to get done.

I’m surprised you didn’t bring a cooler with some premade meals. Or some freeze dried foods. Helps to empty out the freezers in TX and save you some prep time as well.
Judy Laquidara says
I did but Vince eats a lot of pre-made meals while I’m away and I haven’t been home long enough to re-stock the freezer.

An adventure, to be sure. Take some time to rest and enjoy this process of change. =)

If the meds are antibiotics, maybe the Dr can give you an alternative prescription. If they’re just for pain, then I can understand tapering back to see how she does, though. It’s definitely going to be a job to get moved, but you’ll manage. Have you found somebody to take Cat? Maybe she’d like to move, too!
Judy Laquidara says
They were not antibiotics. One was for pain, one was for her tummy and the third one was for anxiety.

You gave me a bit of whiplash since your post said you were going back to Texas and then you were admiring the storm clouds in MO.
Hope all goes well with this phase of the moving process.
Judy Laquidara says
Think how I must feel! Four days here, four days there . . back to MO, back to Texas!

Careful, you are going to meet yourself coming back or going to!
