We recently had an anniversary and neither of us remembered, nor did we remember that we missed it. How bad is that?
About five days before the anniversary, Vince said “What do you want for our anniversary?” I said something like “How about a house?” because we were in the middle of the house deal. I had loved the sellers’ bedroom furniture and they were willing to sell it but it was more than I wanted to spend but Vince had agreed to buy it so he said “The bedroom furniture can be your anniversary present.”
I was totally surprised that he remembered our anniversary . . five days early . . but he knew it was coming up in five days. I rarely forget things like that and usually remind him a few days before it.
Yesterday afternoon, I had been in the sewing room or a while and when I went back to the house, Vince said “Why didn’t you tell me Happy Anniversary on our anniversary?” Hmm . . Did I not even remember it? I said “Did you tell me Happy Anniversary on our anniversary?” We both forgot! He was watching a movie and they had said something about missing an anniversary and it made him remember. I guess if he hadn’t said anything, I would never have remembered.
At least we laughed about it. I did put it on my phone calendar but half the time, I don’t look at my phone for days.

Vince’s idea on buying their bedroom furniture for your anniversary is a GREAT idea! It is something you will both use and that you both like, and will last!

I missed ours this year too. Bob never forgets and I think this is the first time I forgot.

Oh, my! If you can’t remember New Year’s Eve, it’s hopeless that I’ll ever remember mine again.

I had my husband pick the date when we got married. He chose August 6th. When I asked why, he said, it’s the day they dropped the bomb, I’ll never forget! (He was a history major in college.) He hasn’t ever forgotten. 43 years. I’ve never really known how to take the dropped the bomb thing, haha.

That’s funny – in an odd way! 🙂

My step-sonn got married on his birthday in hopes that he wouldn’t forget his anniversary. LOL

We’ve always gone out to dinner for our anniversary. This year (#30) that won’t happen, but that’s okay with me. Happy belated anniversary to you two!

That is a funny story! Kind of hard not to remember ours, it is the day after Christmas!! At least neither of you are the type to get mad about these sorts of things. I would not be mad either. At least we are still together and in December it will be 51 years!!

That happened to us about 5-10 years ago. We were sitting in church and they acknowledge birthdays and anniversaries on the 3rd Sunday…it was a week past our anniversary and we realized we had forgotten it!
Susan Nixon says
That’s a sign that you’re happily married and busy. =)

Haha … we bought a house in April for our anniversary too but even funnier, we actually had new toilets installed in the new house on our anniversary. We now joke that the gift for the 31st anniversary is porcelain!

You remind me of my brother and his wife. They often forget. It will be 44 years for them August 30.
