I’m sorry I forgot to do a Rita update. I’m a terrible mom. I can’t even remember what day it was that Vince took her to the vet and she had to spend the night. I think it was Tuesday. He was able to pick her up Wednesday afternoon. The vet said she ate fine for him on Tuesday night. He gave her two more meds that Vince has had to squirt into her mouth by syringe. That may be because she has so few teeth or it may just be the kinds of meds. I don’t know if it was a tummy med, or an antibiotic or something to help her relax.
She’s been doing fine otherwise. Her reaction to my arrival was a little subdued so maybe the meds have calmed her a bit.
She gets her stitches out Monday and the vet will check her out then and see how she’s doing overall I suppose.
Thanks for asking and again, sorry to send out the alert that she was in the hospital and not followup. Having no internet at the house was bad . . having a cell phone that only worked from a couple of windows . . I thought those days were over but apparently not.
Chad and Nicole live smack dab in the middle of town and apparently there’s no overlapping of the cell phone signals and that seem to be in that thin line where there’s very little cell service so when their phones ring, they grab them and run outside to the spot where they know they can often get a signal. At our new house, the phone works if it’s sitting in a breakfast room window. That’s it! So, during the night, no matter which bedroom I slept in, I had no cell service and that was a bit unnerving . . with me being such a big chicken. One we get internet, we can keep it on wifi calling and hope someday, cell service will get better there.
Marilyn Smith says
Have a landline for the kids and very close friends to call. That and only people you want to hear from. We have a lot of call blocking on our land line, less on our cell phones. If their name, or company name doesn’t show up, I block it. I make sure our Dr. names are on both the landline and cell phones. Most of our calls, probably 90%, are what we call crap calls We are so sick of all the garbage.

I’m sure Rita is glad that you are home. Still sending prayers for you all.
Linda in NE says
Cell service here is lousy too. My phone is locked to Verizon and the tower near here is U.S. Cellular. There’s also no Wifi calling on mine. I can usually send a text but voice is very iffy…better in the winter when the tree next to the house loses its leaves. It’s a good thing I’m not much of a phone person & pretty fearless. LOL
Amy Frances Makson says
THanks for the Rita update. And when you get settled perhaps look into getting a cell phone antenna/booster for your home. It made a huge difference for friends who live in rural NY state.
Judy Laquidara says
Which booster do you use? We bought one for here and though I felt it was rather expensive, didn’t do much to improve our cell phone service.
Dottie says
Glad you’re home and that Rita is doing ok.
Hopefully, the cell phone coverage will improve soon – it’s the pits having to stand in one location, hold your tongue just right, while standing on one leg ;-).
Nelle Coursey says
Maybe they can put up a tower like they did at your place here! That is if there is enough room. Or maybe they will put one near you.
Judy Laquidara says
I don’t think we’ll be getting a tower opportunity there. One of Chad’s friends installs rural internet there and he told me there’s not much chance of better service coming for a while so we’ll learn to live with it and enjoy the service in Texas when we’re back here for the winter.
Susan Nixon says
Ha, maybe you can offer to let them put a big tower in your yard. LOL
Judy Laquidara says
I don’t see that happening since we’re in a neighborhood and only have a bit over one acre.
Teri says
Back here for the winter????? What did I miss????
Judy Laquidara says
We’ll split our time between both places for a while.
