All I know for sure is that I wish I had Addie’s energy! I do not. She makes me tired just watching her run around.
Today I measured the walls, doors, openings – everything that could possibly matter.
This is the last post I did with my final sketch.
This is what the downstairs family room looks like with the pocket door closed. Not bad so I’m going to leave that door closed and consider that wall space.
There is one monkey wrench that got thrown into my plans – Vince thinks I need a TV in the sewing room. There will only be one TV in the house unless I put one in there and he thinks Addie will sometimes want to watch TV and my guess is that she won’t be happy if the sewing machine is running between where she’s sitting and where the TV is so I may need to re-think the entire plan.
I have a few more weeks to do that — I’ve thought enough about that for today!

I watch tv on my iPad so that can be an option for you without physically putting one i there

I vote for no TV in the sewing room.

I have a 36″ TV in my sewing area hanging on the wall directly across from my sewing machine. I love being able to watch Youtube videos and other quilting tutorials and follow along at my sewing machine. I don’t use it for much of anything else as I don’t watch most TV shows anymore. This is better than me sitting with my laptop or iPad taking up space on my sewing table and trying to watch the small screens.

Put your foot down. That’s YOUR space. If Addie has to watch TV, get a small one for her room. I would think she could get by without it, though, read books maybe. Or what about an iPAD or one of those small tablets instead? One that lives at your house. She can sit in the sun room or the sewing room, or wherever she wants with that.

Isn’t your tv room directly next to your sewing room?
Judy Laquidara says
Yes,but Vince and Addie will not be watching the same shows.
Sue says
Get the TV. Any opportunity to have your granddaughter sharing the same space with you, even if you are involved in the same activity is a plus. You don’t need to have it on when you are alone. I use mine to mark time.
Judy Laquidara says
There may be times I want to watch something and Vince is such a TV hog . . we’ll see. The connection is there so it will be an easy enough fix to add one if we decide to do it.

My kids have access to TVs, even in their rooms, and still watch shows on their iPad. Their TVs are really only used for gaming systems. I wouldn’t bother with the TV as she will use an iPad or other device and can move around more freely. Plus when you no longer want to hear it, she can use headphones or move to a different room. Trust me, I have a many youtubers who I just can’t handle listening to anymore.
Judy Laquidara says
She has an iPad but she still likes watching TV. She loved hanging out in the sewing room with Boots and watching TV. I will probably see how it works out using the iPad instead of TV but I do kinda like to know/hear what she’s watching, at least til she’s a little older. There are shows we can watch together. It doesn’t seem right for her to come spend time with me,put her headphones on and spend all her time on the iPad/TV instead of interacting with me. Therefore, I’m kinda against both the iPad and the TV.
Nelle Coursey says
Before you get it all set up you might change your mind 3 or 4 times. It will all work out. Just rest up and think about it tomorrow.
Mary Johnson says
One TV in the house is all that’s needed in my opinion! We have two in Tampa but one of those is in Keith’s office. Here in Big Canoe, his office is right by the living room so one TV is enough!
Judy Laquidara says
That’s how I’m leaning .. one is enough. It will be in the basement family room. I may cave and add one in the sewing room . . we’ll see.
