While packing, thoughts are running through my head about the next projects. How do I plan/find/start new projects with everything packed?
If I had to guess, I’d say it will be well after the first of the year before we’re totally living in MO. It will be a whole lot of back and forth – time in the car when Vince is driving and I’m in the passenger seat knitting; time when I’m in MO by myself; time when I’m in TX but my part of the packing/cleaning is done, all my “stuff” is packed and we’re waiting on Vince to get the shop emptied out.
As I packed up project bags, I kept out a few; I kept out six to eight skeins of sock yarn; I have yarn to make a few new projects that I’m keeping aside. The last thing I want to do is run out of things to keep me busy. I can’t pack or unpack 24/7. If I run out of things to do, I’ll end up ordering more yarn and I don’t need to do that!
I’m so ready already to have everything there and unpacked but I guess that’s what everyone goes through with a move. Maybe planning knitting projects even while knowing I am not going to have a lot of time for knitting . . maybe that’s my coping mechanism. I will feel better knowing I have projects that are all in one spot – yarn, needles and pattern – so when I do have a few spare minutes, I can knit if that’s what I want to do.
Whether we’re in TX or MO, shorter days are coming – no chickens; no garden – sooner or later, I am going to have more time for knitting and maybe sewing.

I’ll miss your chicken stories. You had some pretty chickens.

I bet you will get back to quilting once you are settled in – after all you have a grand daughter that you are going to have to keep supplied in quilts as she goes through her stages of likes/dislikes!
And you will have more chances to knit with Nicole!

I hope you do start quilting again!! That’s what got me started visiting your site in the first place.. all those free patterns you did as BOM’s kept me interested long enough that I became interested in following you – not just the quilt patterns. You’ve inspired me in my quilting quest, and in life, and your daily stories keep a smile on my face! Thanks!!

As long as the boxes with yarn and knitting projects are labeled with big, obvious letters you will be all set! (I would have those boxes labeled on all sides.)

We won’t have chicken stories any more, but I have no doubt there will be other Missouri stories. =)

Looking forward to more sewing stories! 🙂

You are going to love this new place so much! I know you want to be near your kids and that is what you should do. Just be careful while driving back and forth. I know the times Vince is driving you will get to rest and/or knit. Knitting is a relaxer to me.

I know packing knitting is probably a coping thing. I do it when we go camping. I always pack way more than I know I have time to sew. Then I bring it all back in the house.
