The knitting project I’m working on til August 1 when I can start the Camp Loopy project is a beaded laceweight shawl.
The beads are hard to see in the photo but they are really sparkly with a bit of light on them.
Size 8 beads, which these are, will have about 38 beads per gram. This shawl needs about 1,200 beads. I would need about 31-1/2 grams for this shawl but these little rascals get lost so easily that I’d probably want at least 40 grams. Vince asked me . . where do they go? My guess is they’re somehow inside my chair. When I move the chair, I find some of them but never all of them.
A 50 gram package is usually the most economical way to go and I generally choose beads that cost anywhere from $15 to $30 for 50 grams.
Addie found my bead collection and said “Granny! Beads are perfect for my slime. Can I have some of these?” NO! I explained to her that I use them in my knitting sometimes and showed her some projects I’d made using beads. I did tell her that once I finish a project and have beads leftover – not really enough to make anything else . . I’ll save those beads for her so she was happy with that idea.
I never get tired of working with beads/knitting. I’m hoping I can finish this shawl before August 1 because you know what happens when I put a project down — it’s really hard for me to go back to it.

Gorgeous yarn color!! And a good plan for leftover beads!

Again, you do such beautiful work! I am striving to be half as good as you!

I like to use the tiny delica beads in my crazy quilt stitching. Usually that’s about an 11 and takes a very slender needle, but they are SO pretty and sparkly!

Haven’t attempted using beads in my knitting yet. I took a class a few years ago and I have some beads, just haven’t gotten to it yet.

I can’t say YOU would love it but I really love it, even though about halfway through a project, I realize how much time it adds to the project.
