This move is going to be bittersweet. Today Vince is listing the tractor and RTV for sale. We had thought about keeping the RTV for just in case we buy a little weekend place on a lake somewhere but that’s so “maybe” right now that it isn’t worth paying to move it and then deciding to sell it there if we never buy a place where the RTV would be used. I love the RTV and will hate seeing it go. Selling the tractor kinda symbolizes that we’re no longer trying to homestead. The truth is that this lifestyle is never something Vince wanted. If the decision about where we live was 100% his to make, we’d be living in a condo at the beach somewhere but, thankfully for me, he understands how I feel about family. He will be happy in the new location because there are things to do there – the things he enjoys doing.
As happy as I am to be moving, I can see today that there will be a few tears.
We’re making progress though – getting those two things sold will be a nice first step.

I’m with Vince on that “condo on a beach” idea, but since there isn’t a beach within a 1,000 miles of my grandkids I guess I’ll stay put where I am for now. And my husband would hate living near water. I’m betting you will both be really happy at your new house for lots of reasons.

Darrell said he would be happy to store them for Vince over here on the farm….

You sound just like me…I knew that my husband never cared for the life that I wanted to live…so after 25 yrs when he wanted to move south to be warmer and closer to town..i figured that if he could put up with what i wanted for that long, then i could deal with whatever it was that he wanted. He loves NC ,and so do I, but I do miss my tractor…:) enjoy the new house. …I know that you wont regret any of it.
Nelle Coursey says
You should not have any trouble selling them.
Susan Nixon says
I guess that’s a sign that you really won’t keep the Texas property very long, too.
Judy H says
Whoever buys your house would probably buy them, too.
Judy Laquidara says
Maybe but if we sell the house and the new owners don’t want the tractor and/or RTV, we’d be stuck with them so it’s easier for us to sell them now.
