Addie makes me smile! Last night she wanted to play with the slime we had made. I had just sat down, she had eaten some Cheez Its and said there were crumbs on her placemat. I told her I had just sat down, wasn’t getting up but she could take the placemat outside and shake it.
I didn’t know Vince had already locked the door so when she went out, she was locked out and she can’t seem to remember the code to the house door. It had been a few minutes and Vince said “Was she going to the sewing room?” I told him I didn’t think so but I got up to check on her. She was sitting on the steps.
Me: Are you locked out?
Addie: Yes!
Me: Why didn’t you knock?
Addie: I didn’t want to make Rita bark.
Me: What would you have done if I hadn’t gotten up to check on you?
Addie: This is why I should have a cell phone. I could call 991.
Me: You would call 991 because you were locked out?
Addie: Yes!
I didn’t correct her about the 991 number. I will tell Chad and Nicole in case they want to go over that with her, give her the right number and explain when and when not to use it. I think she’s old enough to know that now. When we get moved and she’s with us more, I will make sure to keep cards where she knows where they are, and have our address on them, as well as any codes she needs to give to first responders so they can get in. It’s probably more likely she’d need to call 911 for one of us than she would when she’s home but you never know.

Don’t you just love what comes out of kid’s mouths?!!! Every grandparent could write a book! 🙂
Judy Laquidara says
And we should because we won’t remember or always be around to share with these memories with them.

Some Granny has written an entire blog for her granddaughter. Didn’tVince make you a hard copy of your blog some years ago. If Addie gets bored, you could have her write a blog about staying with Granny and Grumpy.
My fondest memories is of my cousin ,Marsha and I spendinding the week with Granny and Papa with no parents and no brothers allowed, and I lived only a half mile away. Bliss!!

She’s been here almost 5 weeks and hasn’t gotten bored yet so I doubt she will. We talked about saving a copy of the blog but I don’t think it ever happened. Yes, times with grandparents seem to have been special to many of us.

It is good that kids know this and know the proper way to use it. You are a good grandmother!

LOL, and that it’s okay if Rita barks because she’s locked out.
