It seems like in the smaller towns where we live, there’s always a lot of school spirit and on Fridays, so many people are wearing the school colors, school jackets, t-shirts, even shoes that are the school colors so lately, I’ve been knitting a lot of crimson and gray for Addie’s school colors. Now, with there being a new town/new school colors in my life, I’ll be knitting red, white and Columbia blue, which I didn’t even know was a specific color but, now I know. If I can get close to the school colors, that’s good enough for me. I don’t care about being 100% exact shade of everything but I think most of these yarns I’ve ordered are close enough.
I’ve already written about this but for the Camp Loopy August project, I’m making Circadian Cowl by Erica Heusser and using these colors:
I saw Lisa Hannes Festival of Stitches, which had been a mystery knit along but is now finished and I really love it so I was thinking what colors I might use for it and came across this yarn. Perfect!
Then yesterday, I read about a new mystery knit along that isn’t even out yet and Miss Babs has kits so I went over to her website to see what kind of colors she has and I was thinking about diving through some tubs of yarn, and I saw this one:
Another perfect combination! The red is a bit more burgundy than the official school colors so I ordered a couple of different reds to audition and then the white isn’t a true white which I may end up using anyway but I have several different whites I can sub if I decide to go with a solid white.
It’s a good thing I’ve committed to using what I have and not buying more yarn! 🙂

I work for a University, and our colors are red and black, so I knit a lot of red…as a change of pace, I like to combine it with a charcoal grey.

Especially before moving. LOL

Well in your defense, sometimes you don’t have the right color or if you have the right color it is not the correct weight. So you HAVE to order more yarn! LOL Yes I am making excuses but I’m sticking to my story!! You have my permission to buy anything you want or need!! LOL You do such beautiful work and I am proud to know you. Did you know there is a shop going in downtown and it should be open by Winter or the first of next year. It is going to be a children’s shop for the daughter of the people buying it. Then in the back the mother (owner) is going to have her spinning wheel and may be giving instructions. Would love to learn this but I have no way of knowing where to get a good wheel! And if I did, I probably couldn’t afford it. But I can watch and learn!!!

I saw that and I’m excited to go there. I can definitely use help with my spinning. You could watch Craig’s list or something like that. I bought one of mine used and got a decent price on it.
