I probably should be embarrassed to admit this but I’m not. You know how much I detest shopping and shopping for furniture rates right up there with shopping for a car. I’d about rather do anything.
Through the years, we’ve ended up with less and less furniture. Sometimes it got damaged in moving, sometimes it just didn’t have a place in the next house. Sometimes it just got worn out and was donated or, in one case, it was so bad, it went to the dump.
Now we find ourselves with a house that needs a whole lot more furniture than we’re bringing and with the virus, I figured we’d get by with the bare minimum and then when it’s safer, we’d go out shopping for funiture.
The sellers asked if we would be interested in any of their furniture that didn’t go with their new house. I had already fallen in love with the master bedroom furniture but figured even used, it was going to be beyond our budget. It kinda was but Vince likes it too so .. we got that too.
They had just purchased a new washer/dryer two months before finding their new dream home so they asked if we were interested in that. I said fine . . so long as it isn’t a front load. It isn’t. There are four bedrooms there. We are going to keep three of them furnished as bedrooms. I think we haven’t come to any decision yet on the fourth bedroom.
This will be Addie’s room so I bought the furniture that’s in there. There was another bed but it was a sleigh bed with a footboard and I knew that would be harder for her to make her bed and she said she doesn’t like footboards “because if you’re jumping on the bed, they can be dangerous!” I think we’ll have a discussion about that later.
I wanted to keep the basement bedroom furnished so we can sleep down there when there’s a storm or use that as a guest room since there’s a bathroom there and guests would have a little privacy so we bought that.
We bought the dining table which has two leaves and will easily sit 8 and it has 8 chairs and the barstools in the kitchen match the chairs.
There are two Lazy Boy recliners in the “sitting room” that is really a dining room and they haven’t been used much so we bought those.
Heck . . at the rate we’re going, we may not even need movers! 🙂

This makes it a bit easier for you and it’s nice to know that it goes with the style of the house. Did you already get the inspection report?

Judy, seems like the stars are aligning, it must be fate

The people who are moving out won’t need a mover either at that rate!!

Looks like it’s working out for all of you. How wonderful!

Good news about less furniture shopping! My youngest son has a scar on his forehead from hitting the footboard while jumping on his bed when he was around five years old. Addie is one smart cookie!
Dottie says
That’s fantastic!!

Buying their furniture is a win for all y’all. Another sign that this was meant to be!
Linda in NE says
So at least some of your shopping problems are solved! We need a new carpet in the living room and a couple new recliners and I just hate the thought of shopping for any of it. Plus the thought of all the stuff I’d have to put somewhere else to install new carpet.
Nelle Coursey says
You may just want to have an estate sale here! But you will need movers because of all the yarn, material and all of Vince’s tools and things.

Buying their furniture is Totally Amazing!! You don’t have to move it, you don’t have to shop for it, you don’t have to wait for it to be delivered. Just wipe it down for coronavirus, and you are good to go!
Judy Laquidara says
I imagine it will sit there for several days from the time they leave til we show up. I’m way more concerned about contracting coronavirus in the drive from here to there than I am after I get there.

Great news. So now you just have to deal with all with your many treasures. I am wanting/needing some bedroom furniture but the thought of going out and shopping for it (even before the pandemic) makes me just not be able to deal with hovering sales people constantly talking to you. And like Linda in NE the thought of moving ALL my treasures and furniture for new floor covering makes me just say no.
Judy Laquidara says
Same with me. In our house in KY, I had wanted new carpet in our bedroom, and here, there’s only carpet in the two extra bedrooms and it had needed to be changed. Vince said “Let’s just get moved in” and, of course, the carpet was never changed because the thought of having to move everything is more than I can think about but . . now we get to move everything anyway.
Susan Nixon says
That’s a awful lot that won’t fit into their new home! Maybe they aren’t excited about the moving process, either. LOL

Having had to buy a new bedroom set a week ago when my son’s bed broke, now is NOT the time to buy furniture. Very little is in stock and has timelines of Sept / Oct for delivery.
