The fire closest to us is now being reported as 100% contained and having burned about 3,500 acres. The fire that was about 20 miles from us is 30% contained and they’re reporting that it’s burned 6,000 acres. I haven’t heard of any structures burning.
We can still smell smoke but we’re not seeing a lot of smoke.
I haven’t been nervous about the fire except for that first night when it seemed to be raging and the wind was blowing it towards us. It’s so very dry here and the fire danger persists but for now, we are not in the danger zone as far as the active fires.

I’m so glad that you all are safe. I have so enjoyed reading about your escapades over the last few weeks with your granddaughter, and I would hate for anything to stop the fun and joy!

We need to pray for rain. I remember several years ago our local undertaker, Groner Pitts got the Indians from Ysleta to come here and do a rain dance. That was just a few months before we had the first 100 year flood! He was known as a mover and shaker, but this was amazing!

Judy,
So thankful that your Buffalo Creek Fire is contained! Continuing to pray the fighters get those other fires put out soon also. That sure was wild seeing all those Texas-sized, smoke plumes as we drove across the state Monday and Tuesday.
We arrived at my parents yesterday afternoon; 1954.6 miles in 4 1/2 days.
