For the longest time, I’ve felt Joplin was in desperate need of more grocery stores. When we lived there, they had a Food 4 Less, which wasn’t my favorite grocery store; they had a Dillon’s, which is part of the Kroger family and they had Walmart and Sam’s Club. They did build an Aldi while we lived there but they lost Dillon’s and Aldi in the 2011 tornado. Aldi rebuilt but Dillon’s didn’t build back so that left Aldi, Food 4 Less, Walmart and Sam’s. For a city the size of Joplin, that draws from surrounding areas, to me there always seemed to be a need for another grocery store.
Not long ago, I noticed a Natural Grocer being built there. I love that store! There’s one in Abilene and any time we go there, we are sure to stop by Natural Grocer. Most anything I can’t find in normal grocery stores, they have and their produce is always so fresh. We find interesting things there and I love shopping there. Last year when I was in MO, Chad, Nicole, Addie and I went there and Chad fell in love with the store too.
Yesterday I googled “grocery stores in Joplin” and found that there’s now a Harps there! We came across those in Mountain Home, AR. They have two. One is larger with EVERYTHING. One is smaller but still a very nice grocery store. In Joplin, since I’ve been in that part of town, there’s also a Neighborhood Market near the Harps store and both of those are 10 – 12 minutes from our new home. I almost can’t even imagine being 10 – 12 minutes from a grocery store after having lived here for nine years.
Maybe I’ll turn into one of those people who goes to the store every day for the things I need for that day’s meal. Probably not but it will be so nice to know I’m not far from anything.

There are about 6 Natural Grocers in the OKC area and one is close to me, so I’ll have to check it out to compare with Sprouts.
Sprouts Farm Market is a natural food store with a great meat and fresh produce department & bulk foods. There are some Sprout stores in the Kansas City MO area, so maybe they’ll expand across the state.

Welcome back to Missouri! It sounds like you are going to be close to south west corner.

Yes! Just a few miles from Joplin.

It does make a difference when you live closer to the store. But I try to only go to the store once a week.
Even before this pandemic.

Sounds like you’re really excited about the move and will know everything around the area you’re moving to before you even get there! That’s not a bad thing, for sure! I’ve never heard of most of those stores you mentioned by name. It all depends on which part of the country you live in. 🙂

No, you won’t do that, but you will run over if there’s just one thing you forgot or that you didn’t realize you’d need, maybe. =)

We’ll see. I so dislike leaving home.

I haven’t been to Joplin in years but used to go with my Grandmother. Have fun there.
