This evening when we took our walk down the driveway . . I know . . it’s 100 degrees at 8:30 but Addie has way too much energy so we take a walk in the evenings. Vince and I take a leisurely pace and Addie usually runs circles around us or runs to the gate, and back to us and the back to the gate again.
We’ve seen deer in the driveway when we ride down to get the mail almost every day but we haven’t seen any for the last two days. I was telling Vince that we only saw the little fawn once or twice and haven’t seen him again and about that time, I looked up, and there it was.
Addie was back behind us and I was motioning for her to hurry up and she was yelling “WHY?” and she came running and that little fawn never budged. It looked like it was thinking . . a child I might could play with.
Vince went back and got water in a big bladder and took a tub up there and put fresh water out for them. I’m sure they’re pretty parched right now as water isn’t easy to find. We have a few tubs around for the birds but mostly not that far up towards the highway.
If I had my way, that little fawn would be farther away from the highway but mama deer doesn’t ask for my advice!

Wow, it did get startled with a child running and yelling! That’s pretty cool. I hope it stays healthy.

We have a knitting group at church which finally met for the first time in several months a couple of weeks ago. The back of our property is behind a park, and we do see a lot of deer. That evening there was a mama deer with one of the smallest fawns we had ever seen. The fawn looked like it was no larger than a medium-sized dog. it scampered around on the hillside with it’s mother. It was sooooo cute.

I saw video yesterday of a newborn, wobbly-legged fawn in somebody’s yard. I about hold my breath when I see that (even on video) because you don’t want to scare them! That’s a pretty bold baby you’ve got there.

It did seem like he wanted to see Addie. We’ve seen him a few times with mama. I’m sure she was close yesterday but we didn’t see her.

And I bet mama was pretty close as well! Pretty baby!
