There will be lots of house updates (I hope) and you’ll be sick of hearing about it by the time we’ve moved.
As of this afternoon, the appraisal has been ordered, the inspection has been ordered, and the closing date is set for less than a month away. So much is running through my mind.
Addie has chosen her bedroom. She actually wants it to be yellow and teal. I told her once we move in, she and I can go to Hobby Lobby and pick out what she wants (or SOME of what she wants) and we’ll go from there.
It’s all I can do to not post all the pictures but the current owner’s stuff is still in there and I think that’s a bit disrespectful (for me to post their pictures – not for them to still have their stuff in their own home!).
They seem like the nicest people. We haven’t even see the house yet and are trying to plan a trip to see it so we’ve asked about dates and here’s his response:
As for visiting, you are most welcome anytime you would like, as many times as you would like for as long as you would like!! This will soon be your home and we want nothing more than to make this as smooth and painless as possible and to give you as much peace of mind as possible as you fall in love with our home!! Our door is always open to you two, just say when…
Everything is going along as expected and I doubt I’ll have more updates til after the appraisal and inspection, which will all happen before we get there to see the house. Are we crazy . . or brave to be buying a house we haven’t seen? I’m not worried. When we moved to MO, the house we bought was the one I had chosen from the internet and it was the best house ever.
There is a bit more . . Vince talked to the realtor here who had sold us this place and she said things are selling like crazy here and she feels our house will sell quickly. Vince also talked to a friend who does banking here and he said people are always looking for houses like ours in the location where we are. We still haven’t decided if we’re going to put out house on the market or wait til after we’ve been in the new house for a while and be sure we don’t want to keep our Texas house too. It actually costs less to keep this place than to have the apartment in MO. The good news is . . we don’t have to decide right now. My biggest concern is if we decide to keep it, will we really come here enough to make it worth keeping it. I guess if we don’t, we can always put it on the market then.
My other concern is Cat. No way could she live where we’re going. I have friends who live in the country and they might would take her, assuming I could catch her again. I’m not going to move off and leave her here at an empty house or even at a house where we only come every few weeks. She needs full time caretakers. I have found someone who will take my chickens and she might will take Cat too — I didn’t ask her yet.

I’m tickled for your up coming move but I’ve always thought of you as almost a neighbor. I enjoy your talks about going to Abilene or San Angelo as I once lived in Abilene and visit a close friend who lives in San Angelo. So I’m feeling like my friend/neighbor is moving away ?. But I definitely understand the need to be closer to grandbabies. As of right now all 10 of mine are scattered across Texas but 1 and she took it to the extreme, she lives in Australia! I wish we were brave enough to move. Can’t wait to see pictures of your new home!

I’m sorry to be leaving your “neighborhood”. 🙂
Kathleen says
Oh how exciting. Hope all goes well. The owners sound like lovely people indeed.

You didn’t say where….to missouri?
Susan Nixon says
Oh, I hadn’t thought about Cat, other than she would go with you, but that might not work out. If she stayed around under the deck or something … but you can’t really train most cats very well.
Judy Laquidara says
I know nothing about cats. I don’t even know how she’d do in the winter and there’s a road on the side of the house that no doubt will have way more traffic than she’s used to. I don’t think taking her would be good. I don’t think moving her out of the “neighborhood” would be good. No way am I driving off and leaving her though unless I know someone is going to care for her.

I am so glad you have found your place! I know Addie is going to love having you closer. And I know you are going to love it too!! Maybe you need to keep the place here for you and Vince or Chad and Nicole to get away to!!
Judy Laquidara says
We may. We’re still weighing it all out.
Rebecca in SoCal says
Best of luck to you! I hope it works out as you wish.
I was thinking of Cat just before you mentioned her. I just hope that she accepts a new place. I have certainly heard of cats going many miles to get “home.”
Amy Makson says
Fingers crossed for you Judy! And I might have missed it but where is it located? How close to the “kids”?
Amy (Waunaknit) says
One of my co-workers from Salt Lake City just bought their retirement house in North Carolina. They only saw it virtually via the realtor’s walk-thru video. The first time they physically saw it was when they started moving in.
So happy for you and Vince. Fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly. I wouldn’t rush into selling the Texas house either since you know it will sell easily once you list it.
