There’s a neat little restaurant in town called The Runaway Train. The owner is a wonderful person and I love eating there but since we rarely go out to eat, we hardly ever go there. Every time Addie has been here, which has only been a few times, we’ve gone to The Runaway Train. Here she was at The Train five years ago, when she was just two.
That was one of the places she wanted to eat while she was there . . there and Whataburger. With Covid-19 numbers back up and lots of new cases in town, we aren’t going anywhere. I told her that the next time she comes, we’ll go to The Train three times to make up for not getting to go this time. She said “What if I’m only here two days?” That won’t happen but I told her we’ll go twice in one day if she’s only here two days.
I asked her if she wanted to get food to go from The Train but she wants to eat inside the train car so . . we’ll hope for no pandemic next time she comes.

Definitely eating in a train car is a real treat!! There is a railroad diner and caboose motel in Strasburg, PA that we visited years ago. The train car actually moved as if running on the tracks while we ate…such memories!! The caboose motel was a special treat for the kids and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I think I know how Addie feels about the Runaway Train! 🙂

I love their burgers but they are way too big for me! The Texas toothpicks are good as well. Tiny fried strips of Jalapeno in batter. YUM! I usually get 1/2 of the Railroad Club and a cup of baked potato soup. Soooo good. And the Jalapeno roll just makes it even better.

Vince gets a burger but I usually get the reuben.

So cute to see her way back then. I doubt she’ll let you forget that promise, and it’s something to look forward to.
