She had wanted boots and coming to Texas without boots just didn’t seem right so we went to Tractor Supply to find some but they didn’t have her size.
I ended up ordering boots and they arrived yesterday. She kept them on all day . . I was afraid she was going to want to sleep in them.
She loves driving the RTV. For those not familiar with them, the seat is short and I’m basically right next to her. In fact, I push the gas pedal and she steers so we are barely rolling and we’re only on our driveway or in our woods so please . . no safety speech about a 7 year old driving.
Yesterday a giant grasshopper jumped into the RTV and landed on the floor. She got those long legs up in the seat and wasn’t about to put her feet on the floor. I told her . . you have on boots so you need to be a little braver!
Now she’s singing and notice she has the new doll dress hanging on her arm.
She chose the fabric for the Double Jumper. I’ll make the blouse today. She’s getting so excited about the doll clothes. Once the jumper was finished (still needs buttons), she said “It looks like a lederhosen! I said “WHAT?” and she said it again. I had no idea what a lederhosen was so she began describing it for me and I was figuring it out. Chad said “Granny, How do you NOT know that?” I told him . . there’s a whole lot I don’t know.

That’s how I “drove” a tractor as a kid. Great memories!

For women it’s a dirndl, and for men, it’s lederhosen, but yes, Addie is correct. They wear this attire to weddings, etc. It is the equivalent to formal attire here in the USA.
I went to Europe with Girl Scouts 3 years ago and we started in Munich. Our tour guide was German and she explained it all to us.

Our Grand Kids could drive the Golf Cart when they were 6 or 7. I think it helped make them all good drivers. Had to slow them down sometimes. lol

I didn’t know had to google it. My twelve granddaughter had to show me how to cut and paste yesterday!

Both of my granddaughters love cowboy boots and wear them frequently. Addie’s pink boots are pretty. I think driving that ATV in the safety of your property is a good way to start. My own kids and now grandkids love it when they get to drive a golf cart. With an adult sitting with them, in wide open spaces – a fun safe activity.

As a farm kid, I’m glad to hear she’s learning about driving out there in the country. Watching these city kids learn to drive? Yikes! They are scared to death.
Happy Days and great memories 🙂

My cousin has a set of lederhosen that he bought when he and his wife visited Germany a few years ago. He wears them every year for Oktoberfest…I snicker a bit every time I see a photo of him wearing them. (They do not look very comfortable…) I thought Addie wasn’t afraid of any critters after seeing some of the things she has held over the years.

What a lucky girl to have you for a grandmother! Those boots (Addie’s and the doll’s) are so cute.
My kids grew up driving a Power Wheels Jeep and ATVs, and they took to driving a real car right away. I didn’t have that when I was young, and driving a car was hard for me at first.

I love the boots!! She may not wear anything but those boots and not her other school shoes! The boots will last for a long time. She will not wear them out before she outgrows them. I love the color too! She is going to make all the other kids at school jealous. Now she needs a straw cowboy hat in pink!!
Judy Laquidara says
She does have a pink cowgirl hat and she brought it with her. I didn’t even see that she had brought it til she ran in and got it to wear with her boots.

Oh, I think on a farm, farm children are actually driving things at 7 years old, sometimes! I see nothing wrong with learning that young. I love the pic of her on the swing. I can just see her as a teenager from the “ranch” house. LOL She’s going to give those boys headaches!
Twyla says
The picture in the swing really shows off how much she has grown. Glad y’all are having fun.
