This evening Nicole called and she was telling me that since she sees Addie every day, it’s surprising for her to see Addie in pictures, a week since she saw her in real life.
Then she talked to Addie.
Nicole: Are you having fun?
Addie: Yes.
Nicole: Are you staying longer than two weeks?
Addie: Yes, a little longer.
Nicole: Do you think you want to stay there forever?
Addie: Maybe!
Nicole: Do you want us to move there?
Addie: YES!!
I was concerned that Addie was going to change her mind at the last minute and not come home with me; now I’m a bit concerned she may not want to go home! No I’m not really concerned about that. She’s having fun here. Nicole works so Addie goes to day care. Here she’s free to roam around all day. She goes over and plays with Boots. She’s going through everything in my sewing room . . wanting to know what things are and finding things she wants to keep. She goes into the orchard 10 times a day and gets plums. She loves those! Today the propane guy was here and he went out and picked a few plums. Addie was whispering to me “Granny! Make him stop! He’s going to take them all!” I told her we have plenty to share. She loves the RTV. Our driveway is level with no drop offs so I push the gas pedal and let her “drive”. She wants to go check the mail a dozen times a day. We don’t do it though. Today I knew there was no mail but I also knew she was chomping at the bit to drive so we drove up there anyway.
We’ve finished our first week together and are starting our second week. I think she’ll stay about three weeks but we’ll see. Heck, the way the coronavirus is going crazy in Texas, they may not even let us back in Missouri!

Really nice that she’s taken to it so well, especially since she was wavering originally on even going with you! Enjoy! The time will go so fast for both of you! 🙂 I’m smiling just thinking of all the fun she’s having. 🙂

I know! She totally caught me by surprise when she said she might not come to Texas with me. I thinks he was afraid of missing her parents. She and Vince butt heads and there have been a few tears and I fully expected her to want to go home when they had issues but she’s recovered and been fine.

Well….that’s not so bad to not be allowed back in Missouri right away. You have soooo much to share with her. Sourdough and yeast breads, gardening, chicken raising, canning, freeze drying, sewing, quilting….. I stayed with my grandmother and grandfather for about a month each summer. Sure. I missed my parents but there was so much that was unique and different about the time with my grandparents. One of my fondest memories was that they played a card game with me every day after lunch. Oh, sure, there were lots of other activities and one was stringing my great grandmas buttons but most of all was purely and simply the time I spent with them each summer. Nothing fancy. Just plain fun.

So far, we can go back into MO but if our numbers don’t stop going up, I wouldn’t blame them for blocking us. I believe this is something we’ll do every summer, at least for the next few summers.

Lots of memory making for all of you. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!

I did hear some northeast states are requiring visitors from “high-risk” states to quarantine for two weeks. I don’t know which states are high-risk, but Texas isn’t doing great right now.
At least you don’t have to consider that. No going to New York!
Judy Laquidara says
Texas is one of the states where residents would have to quarantine. I don’t blame any states for not wanting residents from the high risk states to enter. I’ll keep a watch on the ever changing situation before I make any plans.
Carolyn says
So are you saying you won’t come visit me in NJ? 🙂 So glad that Addie is enjoying her time with you! I really need to send you an email, I have some good news to share!
Nelle Coursey says
Or you may have to quarantine there for 14 days before you can come back to Texas! At least you have a place to stay there.
Judy Laquidara says
Who knows what the future holds!
Susan Nixon says
More testing = more cases found. It sounds like Addie is having the time of her life!
Judy Laquidara says
The hospitalizations are going up here too so that’s a little more worrisome.
