When Addie and I were arriving in Texas, she noticed right off the bat that Texans are proud of Texas. She kept saying “Why does EVERYTHING say Texas on it?” Chad had told her that Dairy Queen is the official stop sign of Texas (per their ad) and explained that to her. She saw a Whataburger sign and told me she ALWAYS stops there when she’s in Texas. I never noticed how much “Texas” you see in Texas, along with Texas flags prominently displayed everywhere – something I’ve never really noticed in other states. Addie comments every time we leave the house about all the Texas flags and Texas signs.
Today she picked up Rita’s little shirt and looked at it.
She wanted to put the shirt on Rita and I said “not now”.
Addie: Oh, that’s right . . you aren’t in the USA.
Me: We are too in the USA.
Addie: Grannie . . we’re in TEXAS!!
Me: Texas is part of the USA . . just like Missouri and Louisiana.
Addie: Oh, Granny! You know Texas is NOT part of the USA. They have their own flag and it’s everywhere!
Then I explained to her that most people who live in Texas love Texas and are proud to be here.
Addie: But . . YOU don’t want to live here. You want to live in Missouri.
Me: NO! I love living here. I just want to live closer to you.
Addie: That’s ok. I’ll tell mom and dad that we should move here.
Grand idea but I’m not holding my breath on that one.

I love this. I’ve noticed how the Texas flag is proudly flown all over Texas. I used to travel a lot and noticed the absence of other state flags other than on government buildings. I’m one of those proud Texans!

Wouldn’t it be great if she convinced them to move to Texas! Then you wouldn’t have to give up your land! Why don’t you suggest building their dream house on your land, then you could have them right there with you!!!

They’re happy in MO and don’t want to move to Texas. They have their friends there, Nicole’s family there and totally different hunting and fishing, which matters to Chad.

Love it!

Not too many people fly the Missouri State Flag…

Not the flag, but…when my stepson visited California from Michigan, he asked “Why is everything ‘Golden” (he may have said Golden State) out here?” I thought that was funny, and imagined things in Michigan being named “Peninsula” whatever. It just doesn’t have the same ring.
I know many people think California is it’s own country. Or world!

LOL! Texas is a little different, but the rest of us have flags, too … and if you live where I do, it’s all about the UT Vols sports teams! LOL
