I’m so predictable. Here’s my time line:
- February – I’m planting seeds in containers so they’ll be big enough to plant in the garden when the time is right.
- March – I’m sitting out in the garden making my plan about what goes where.
- April – Hounding Vince to get the garden tilled up.
- May (or late April) – We’re planting! I’m so excited
- June – It’s hot and dry. The weeds are taking over. The grasshoppers are eating everything. Bugs! Where did they all come from?
It’s about this time of year that I start questioning why I ever wasted the time and money to plant a garden. Within the next two weeks, I’ll be promising Vince I’m never planting a garden again!

So very, very true. Aside from the benefits (fresh food), I think planting the garden (at least at the beginning) bring us hope, just like the phrase goes “Hope Springs Eternal”.

You’re right. I can’t imagine sitting through spring and not planting, though this time of year, I often wish that’s what I had done.

Here, substitute FROST for Grasshopper! One year I planted tomatoes 3X. Snow on June 11? Sure. We never know, we hope. Yesterday, 95F and this morning 43
Yup! We gardeners are a crazy lot! Love my garden 🙂

But your efforts always pay off and you have veggies for the rest of the year and into next year. Very fulfilling and it also keeps you out of the bars and pool halls!!! LOL

You forgot January where you are saying, “I’m not planting a garden this year.” LOL
