Chad was telling me about all the names he has picked out for chickens. I’m not sure how many chickens he plans to get! Then Nicole called and was reading off all the names to me. I thought Chad had written them down on a sheet of paper. No! They’re all written down on the kitchen blackboard!
My boy is loving his chickens. I think it’s so funny to see our kids do things that they complained about us doing.
Bridgette, Poppy and Anne are the first three they got. I think he told me the one that follows Addie is named Racey because she’s always “racing” along to keep up with Addie. He already has one named Star. She’s a yellow chicken with white tips on her weeks and they thought she looked like a star.
Nicole said “Where did he come up with all these names?” My Louisiana friends who like Cookie & The Cupcakes will recognize Mathilda and Belinda as being Cookie’s songs. It’s funny that he got so aggravated with me always having Cookie & The Cupcakes playing when he was growing up and now he’s naming his chickens after one of my favorite groups.
I think Mathilda is on my iPod about 6 times. When we’re in the car on long trips and my iPod is playing, Vince will say “Didn’t we just hear this song?” Yep! And now we get to hear it again. How lucky are we? This is not Vince’s kind of music!
Most of the guys in the band were from the Lake Charles area though they were pretty much before my adult years but their music was very popular in the dance halls around Lake Charles when I was a young adult.
Chad loved I Love Lucy when he was growing up so that explains where Lucy and Ethel came from.
I’m not sure what #5 is but since Ruby and Opal are above and below it, I’m guessing it’s a gem/stone name.
Every time Chad calls, which isn’t often enough, I grin . . knowing whatever he has to tell me is going to make me giggle . . though I never let him know I’m giggling.
I’m so proud of the man he’s become, the husband and dad he is and I really am ready to go to Missouri and see them!!

Looks like Rose to me??
Judy Laquidara says
Oh! I think he did mention “Rose” to me. Thanks!
Paula Philpot says
Does he still manage a Walmart, don’t know since I am trying to catch up? Paula in KY
Judy Laquidara says
No. He hasn’t been with them for a bit over a year.
Susan Nixon says
I think it’s hilarious that the chicken population is growing and growing.
Judy Laquidara says
I have laughed so much about that, simply because of the way he always reacted to my chicken buying.
