We had a nice rain last night. In fact, after we went to bed, it rained even more. The bad news is that when it started, it was hailing quite a bit. I haven’t been out to check the garden yet but I won’t be surprised to see a bit of hail damage with the garden and the fruit trees.
By the time I went out and took photos, some of the hail had melted but you can still see some by the concrete. It was really raining. We so badly needed rain.
We had received 1.09″ of rain this month until it started raining last night. I forgot to look at it this morning (and I’m in the sewing room now) but here’s what it was when we went to bed.
We got right at 2″ of rain. That’s super great for us this time of year. Oh, I hope it didn’t ruin Memorial Day plans for people enjoying the long weekend.
For those who thought our weather station was confusing, here’s what all the numbers are – starting at the top left:
- Time – 9:57 p.m.
- Date – Sunday, 5/24
- Inside Temp – 70.2
- Inside Humidity – 55%
- Pressure – 28.20
- Outside Temp – 62.2
- Outside Humidity – 96%
- UV – 0
- Light – 0
- Wind – 0
- Rain – 3.03″ (that’s for the month – I can change it to daily, weekly, or yearly.)
There are a lot of things I can change but I don’t even remember what they are because these are the ones that matter to us.It reports to Weather Underground – here’s the link to what our station reports in. I love watching the data and I can compare it to what other stations are reporting in.
The closest station to me is probably about 4 miles as the crow flies and they reported 1.16″ of rain where mine reported 2.0″ of rain. Places not far at all will get 1+” of rain and we won’t get a drop.
These are the ones that are the closest to us and some of these are 20 or more miles away but ours was reporting the coolest temp, though not a lot cooler.
Probably just another time waster but I enjoy it.

Hope the hail damage wasn’t too bad. We got hail (some half dollar size), a bit of rain (half an inch) and tornado warning (spent an hour in the storm shelter while the sirens went off) Saturday night. Last night we had a little (small) and rain (an inch), t-storms but nothing too serious. Supposed to rain off and on today with temps in the high 60’s. Weather can’t make up it’s mind this year – 90’s for a few days, then 60’s, repeat, LOL.

Isn’t 96% humidity wonderful! Air you can wear! We had rain scheduled every day for 9 days, but had the real thing once so far. Of course, there’s still today…

It is wonderful. Here, the only time we get that kind of humidity is when it rains and we never get enough rain. Mid-day Monday and even after all the rain, the humidity is in the mid-60’s.

WOW, we got 3″ here in town!! I was shocked, but it did rain a long time and a lot!
Judy Laquidara says
We ended up just shy of 3″ – I think it was like 2.98″ Hoping for a bit more tonight.

I guess you are in the best place when it’s really hot, then. That storm hit us yesterday afternoon. It poured straight down for 30 minutes and then off and on. We had been out having lunch and on the way home we drove through a flooded street. The water was still 8″ below the bottom of our truck, but one SUV just stopped – something got too wet in the splashing, I guess. They had almost made it to the end. We stopped and calmed them down because they were a little freaked out. We offered to push them but don’t have a push bar and were worried about damaging the paint or worse.
They called a tow truck and took our number in case things got worse, and we would come back and push them out. Fortunately, they called to say a repo man with a tow truck had happened by and pulled them out and into the parking lot up the hill where they could wait to dry out. It was crazy – two places flooded in the same half mile. I don’t know if something was jammed or blocked with debris, but next time it rains, I won’t be going down that street!

Glad y’all didn’t get stuck! I think we’re up to about 4.5″ of rain for the month. That’s a lot for us in May but it came over several days. Where we are never floods but in town here, it floods with a lot of rain but I didn’t hear of any problems.
