Friday when I talked to Nicole, she told me they were going on a canoe trip Saturday. They usually do several canoe trips per summer. I asked about the river conditions and she said Chad had called and talked to the canoe rental place and they said it was fine.
Yesterday morning one of my friends from near Kansas City posted that some of her family was going canoeing today in the same area where Chad, Nicole and Addie were going. I thought that was kinda neat. Of course, none of those folks know each other.
I am not a fan of water sports and I always am nervous when Chad and Nicole are doing wild water sports but when Addie is with them, I really am a bit nervous. Then I feel definitely overprotective because I don’t want Addie to grow up feeling like I do about water.
I was busy all day – the garden, the carbon monoxide, then late in the afternoon I sat down to read Facebook and . . my friend had posted that her family who was canoeing ran into all kind of trouble . . lost kayaks and canoes and had to be rescued by the fire department and swift water rescue group! Oh, no . . panic time!
I called Nicole’s phone and Addie answered. She always giggles when I say “Hey Girl!” so I figured things were ok. I said “Did you go canoeing?” and she said “No, the river was too high!” Whew!
Then Nicole got on the phone and said they had started out for their trip, stopped at a small town to get breakfast at McDonald’s and while there, they got a call from the canoe place that the river was too swift and too high and they’d have to take a raincheck on their trip.
I’m so glad they answered the phone. I would have been so worried til I talked to them.
Since they were out, they stopped at a few places and guess what came home with them! Anne, Poppy and Bridgette have sisters! More chickens. I’m laughing so much at them because Chad always made so much fun of me and my chickens.
I wonder if Addie is going to find a new favorite or if Bridgette will always be her true love.

I tired to post yesterday about the baby chicks wouldn’t go through. I’ve got and good friend who is an RN. She got herself a baby Silkie for and inside pet. Her name is Halo. Well she got chicken diapers for her somewhere. Now don’t laugh she said she had a chicken when she was younger and it wore diapers too. So you could bring chicken if you get diapers. Thought you might get a laugh today out of diaper wearing chicken.

So glad they did not go. Sorry for their lost trip, but there will always be others. Water scares me too, but when I was a little kid all my family was swimming in the creek behind our house. Mom said she looked down and all she could see was red hair sticking up! She grabbed me by the hair and got me out of the water! Evidently I had just walked into the water and was walking to them! I think she is the one that made me scared of going in the water. I think I was maybe 1 or 2. I do not remember it at all!

I’m glad they didn’t wind up going, but the chickens! So funny!
