The black cloud seems to be really following us! After I broke the jar of mustard yesterday, I had the feeling . . what else can go wrong. Breaking a jar of mustard wasn’t a disaster but it made me sad to lose all that yummy mustard.
A couple of hours later my phone rang. It was the Fed Ex guy. He said “I don’t think the keypad is working on your gate!” I asked him to just leave the packages at the gate so he didn’t have to wait for us to get down there. Vince thought the batteries might be dead, though it doesn’t run on batteries. I’m not an engineer so don’t ask me why he said all that. What I think (and you know I’m wrong!) is that the key pad works off the solar panel but there’s a battery backup. I don’t know why it needs a battery backup because if the solar charged battery isn’t working the keypad, it surely isn’t going to open the gate.
Vince messed with it and it will make the gate kinda jump like it’s going to open but he doesn’t open. Since it was over 100 degrees til pretty late in the day, he went up and worked on it this morning, then he called the gate people in FL and I’m not sure what the verdict is. All the gate operations were installed eight years ago and the sun and dust/dirt are rough on everything here so it sounded like Vince was going to order a new keypad setup.
It’s all very minor things but it gets to the point where I’m apprehensive about touching anything! Heck, yesterday I went to unplug my cell phone and some little piece flew out of the phone . . in the bedroom . . and I still haven’t found that.
Crazy things happening around here!

It’s said that things happen in 3’s. You’ve got (1) the mustard, (2) the gate and (3) your phone! Everything should be good now!! 🙂 You’re safe!! 🙂 Enjoy the heat….our furnace was running this morning, and it’s not set to turn on until it’s below 65 in the house….

Except we’ve also had issues with the freeze dryer (had to buy a new pump), solar panel/inverters failing (warranty work) and a kitchen faucet that had to be rebuilt. Maybe it was three things for each of us!

Yes,but the good news is . . the garlic is keeping the werewolves and vampires away! 🙂

Don’t forget the eggshells! When things start dropping, I say “gravity is really strong here today.”
Judy Laquidara says
Yes . . that’s a good saying! So far, today, nothing has gone wrong. And, the gate keypad just needed new batteries so, for the moment, I think everything is fairly ok around here.
