We both pretty much took the day off. I did a couple of loads of laundry. For some reason, I seem to be short on dish towels. I didn’t take any of them to MO so that’s not where they are. In fact, I brought some from there here because I didn’t have enough dirty ones to run the washer and didn’t want to leave them there . . even though I thought I’d be back in two months and here’s been four months and I still haven’t been back. I had thought about laying them out and letting them dry and then just washing them when I got back. I also thought about taking the few things out of the fridge and turning it off but thought . . heck, I’ll be back in two months. Nope . . that didn’t happen.
We had leftover chicken enchilada casserole today. About the only thing productive I did was whip up 88 eggs to go into the freeze dryer. The peaches need another couple of days to get a bit softer before I start on them so I started the eggs and if the peaches are ready before the eggs are done, I can slice them and put them on the freeze dryer trays and leave them in the freezer. I can even put parchment paper on the freeze dryer trays, fill them with peaches, freeze them in the home freezer, the pop them out and stack those up in the freezer and leave them in there til I can get to them in the freeze dryer.
I did get some good knitting done on the three color project. You can see I went back and used the orange that I really wanted to use. I tried using pink, purple, aqua, the light mint green I had tried the first time, and a light blue but I still liked the orange better so . . orange it is.
I’m hoping to have this finished before I can start the June Camp Loopy project on June 1 but it all depends on what else is going on here and I still want to make a quick trip to MO as soon as we feel it’s safe to do so.
We had bad weather predicted for last night. I was sitting in the chair knitting and about 9:15 p.m., the wind began to blow and it was thundering. We have a weather radio and both have alerts on our phones. All three were going off . . each making a different warning sound. It seemed very ominous but I didn’t think it was going to be life threatening. I told Vince I was going to take a quick shower because if the electricity goes off, we have no water. I took a really quick shower (had already had one before we went out and picked peaches but it was HOT when we were out there). By the time I got out of the shower, the storm had pretty much passed.
This morning we went out . . what a mess. There was stuff everywhere! We keep some really big trash cans outside around where we work. One of those had blown all the way from back by the garden fence up against the house. Every single tomato except two had blown off my tomato plants. I was so sad about that, but then remembered that we were lucky to have no other damage.
My tomatoes are mostly planted in 5 gallon buckets and they were all full of dirt and I think 11 out of 15 of those buckets had turned over. There was a good bit of property damage and some injuries at the lake and lots of trees damaged around town. We were lucky.
It all blew through here so fast, Rita never noticed. Vince said “Maybe she’s losing her hearing.” I said . . oh, say EAT or BED and see how quickly she reacts! Nothing wrong with her hearing.
I’m kinda hoping it’s too wet to finish the garlic tomorrow but we have to get it done so . . might as well do it if it’s dry enough out there. We only got a bit more than 3/4″ of rain and it was so dry, I’m sure the top layer is dry already.
I think we both needed a day of doing nothing but we have to hit the deck running tomorrow to get things done. I think I’ll make a sourdough pizza crust tomorrow and have pizza for dinner. I’ve been hungry for pizza and I have turkey pepperoni in the fridge that needs to be used.
We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

No T towels, does this mean a sewing day making more, I am sure you have some fabric! Stay safe.

I think I’m pretty hard on my dish towels. I go through a lot of them during one day and they get washed often, hung on the line, sometimes go through the dryer. No .. not making any. I definitely have plenty of fabric but I don’t have a lot of time. You know .. you’ve just given me a thought though! Addie wants to learn to sew. When she’s here, I could cut some rectangles, and she could learn to turn the edges under and stitch those. I could even send her home with some she’s made. Thanks for that idea!

We went out to Fabis Park (city park on the way to the dam) and there was several trees that had been uprooted. And I am talking big trees! Most were on the property next to it, but there was one right beside the road that was huge and the roots that you could see were about 7ft wide and about 5-6 ft tall.

They really had a lot of damage out in the lake area. Must have been pretty scary.

I’m glad you had a rain, and a day off. You could have my next five days if you like. So strange that you’d get 3/4″ and my friend south of Dallas got about 4 inches. Her ground is soggy.
Judy Laquidara says
Goodness, we can get 4″ here and people a mile down the road don’t get anything so I don’t find that strange at all. We’re in an area where the rain seems to split and go right around us about 90% of the time and Dallas is in area where those splits seem to come together and they get twice as much as anywhere near them.
