Last year I missed Camp Loopy and I think that made me super excited to do it this year. Last night the “challenge” went up on The Loopy Ewe blog and you can read about it here. I love challenges like this!
The minimum yardage for June is 400 yards but there’s a 15% discount for Camp Loopy yarn purchased so I am making a striped, oversize sweater. Or, should I say . . that’s my plan!
These are the two yarns I chose. Sandnes Garn, Peer Gynt is a Norwegian yarn – 100% Norwegian yarn, milled and sourced in Norway. I find Norwegian or Icelandic yarns hold up so much better than many of the softer merino type wools. I read some reviews and most say it’s not scratchy once washed and is fine for next to the skin softness. I’ll probably always wear a tank or something under it anyway.
Since I’m hoping to get to spend more time in MO, I went with the crimson/gray colors, though my “crimson” is way more pink. From a distance, I might can pass it off as school colors if I’m wearing it there.
I’ve never used this yarn and didn’t want to go with the deepest reddest crimson just in case the yarn fades. Anyway, everything I make doesn’t have to be Addie’s school colors!
Can’t start knitting til June 1 but I have other projects to keep me busy. Heck, at the rate the mail is getting packages here, I may be lucky to get it here by June 1.

I haven’t done Camp Loopy in several years, because I usually just don’t have the time. It is looking kind of fun to me right now. I need to see if I can find a pattern (soon!) for the first challenge, so I can order the yarn…

I’m going to be Camping from stash this year.

Yay! I hope we can spend some quality time in the lab together!

So does this mean you are finding more time for knitting again?
Judy Laquidara says
I think I’m being overly optimistic.
