This time of year, every day seems busy. I was supposed to make more masks to send to Nicole but I don’t think that’s going to happen today.
The first load out of the freeze dryer with the new pump. I’m still not sure its working right. It took 45 hours to do this load. I’ve never paid attention to how long it takes but that seems like a long time.
A friend gave me her aunt’s very old baked bean recipe and it says to bake up to 6 hours so I made those this morning and stuck them in the solar oven so as not to have to run the oven in the house for 6 hours.
I can’t wait to try them. They sure smelled good when I last went out to check on them.
Vince went to town this morning and I asked him to get a pork butt and ground beef. He did find a pork butt and he got ground beef and ground turkey.
He also got a few chicken breasts and steaks. All that had to vacuum sealed before putting into the freezer.
I’m tired!
Susan Nixon says
You’re tired, but your freezer is stocked and that could be a good thing in the coming weeks, if they don’t get the meat processing plants up faster. We are killing a lot of harvest.
Susan Q says
Can you please share what you use to vacuum seal your food?
Nelle Coursey says
What brand of vacuum sealer do you use? I have been thinking of getting one and I have not talked to anyone who has one. I feel like I would use it a lot at least enough to justify buying one! I put things in the freezer all the time in freezer bags, but I think this would be better.
Martha Michael says
I would like to know about your solar oven. Where did you get it? I know y’all do a lot of research when buying so I thought I would start with you. In Junior high my son built one for his science project.
