It just feels so odd going to town. It almost feels like we’re doing something criminal. I know I worry about the craziest things but I think having an accident and having to go to the hospital. Not a place I ever want to go but for sure not now.
We decided to take my car since it hasn’t been driven in about two months. We only have carports so pollen and cats seem to be attracted to my car. See on the windshield where Cat slides down the windshield?
There wasn’t much traffic on our road but there really never is. You can also see the pollen on the hood. At this moment, Vince is out washing the car! Yay!
The grocery pickup went fine . . we opened the back of the SUV, the lady came out and put groceries in. She closed it . . no contact, we didn’t even get out of the car.
It was so nice to have sandwich meat! We got roast beef and ham. Normally, I’m not a sandwich eater but I wanted a sandwich with homemade bread and the spicy mustard. It was just a little sandwich on a little roll and it was so good.
Sandwich, chips, watermelon rind pickles and we shared a carrot. It was better than any restaurant meal and it felt extravagant!

So glad this time it went well. Did you get everything you ordered?
Judy Laquidara says
Everything! I had a few substitutions. I had asked for Schweppes Tonic Water and they were out but had their rand for less and it still has quinine in it and it costs less so I got more of those than I had ordered of the Schweppes. I had ordered 11 oz. blueberries and they were out of that size but they had 6 oz. packages that ended up two of those were less than the one 11 oz. because they must have been on sale. I had asked for baby bella whole mushrooms but they were out and substituted sliced. I prefer whole because I feel like I can clean those better but sliced was better than nothing.
They test me while they’re shopping so anything they don’t have or even things that were less . . like a different brand, she communicated that to me.
I’m totally happy with the service.

Great! Very good to know! Now did I remember correctly that this is not at Walmart?
Judy Laquidara says
Not at Walmart. We do the online orders at Brookshire’s. Walmart here does it too (as does United) but Brookshire’s is the smallest, less people and so far, even though we’ve only done two orders, we have been happy with them.

Maybe I’ll try curbside pick-up at local stores again. The first time (we) tried was ridiculous and unworkable, but that’s probably because everybody was doing it for the first time. Maybe things have settled in to the groove now.
Judy Laquidara says
I haven’t tried Walmart. Where we go is a smaller store and I don’t think it could go any better than it goes. But, the first time I picked up was April 2. Every area has had a run at different times so, yes, I’d try it again if I were you.

You mentioned tonic water – why ? If you like tonic water – then that’s great.. I drink it all of the time since it helps with leg cramps as well as it tastes great with vodka! But I use tonic syrups that I buy on Amazon (or direct) and use the Soda Stream. But, I only have one spare canister left.
If you are looking for a stronger tonic (quinine) formula, you may want to go with a syrup option. But, the formulas are different with respect to quinine, sugar and other things. I like Jack Rudy tonics. Don’t forget to take zinc !

Another point – when I traveled to Africa, I took the anti-malaria drugs as directed and had no health problems. And, I didn’t get malaria, though the workmate I went with did come down with malaria.

Watermelon pickles! Oh that brings back great memories of my aunt’s cooking. =)
