Every day things happen that make me smile or . . question my sanity.
You may remember the first week we were staying home and I thought I was out of carrots. We use a lot of carrots so that was a concern but then I found two – 2 pound bags in a shop fridge. Not always but for the most part, I halfway remember what I buy. Vince had bought a bunch of carrots when he was making some kind if spicy Mexican pickled carrots. He made them one, loved them, bought more and never made them again. I knew those four pounds of carrots would be enough to get us through til the carrots in the garden were ready. We made it. Those carrots lasted and now we have plenty of carrots in the garden.
The other day I needed lemons. We have a small fridge in the shop that thinks it’s a freezer and it freezes everything. Vince had put a bag of lemons in that fridge. I got them, they were all frozen and kinda worthless but I used them to make what I needed to make and threw out the rest of them because they turned to a pile of mush. Yesterday, while looking in the fridge in the sewing room, there was another bag of lemons! I was making something last night and needed 1 pound of ginger, which we had, and two lemons. I planned to go over to the sewing room to get two lemons but while digging for ginger in the house fridge, I found two lemons!
Over the weekend, I wanted to make homemade marshmallows but didn’t have any gelatin so I forgot about it. Yesterday, while re-arranging things in a cabinet, I found four packets of gelatin so today I’m making marshmallows!
All of this tells me I need to have a better understanding of what’s in this house!
Another thing – the ramp going up to the main chicken coop was rotting. I was afraid a chicken was going to fall through and Vince had been meaning to rebuild it and just hadn’t gotten around to it.
Yesterday he decided to look around and see what he could find laying around that he could use. I should have taken a picture . . he made a really nice new ramp. He said this one is a lot stronger than the other one was and it’s all made from leftover lumber from other projects.
Sometimes it’s too easy to run to the store and get what we need for a project instead of looking around for something that will work.

So true – I’ve been surprised at “finding” things since we are staying home. I’m looking at it as dividends :-).

Yay! I’m so ready for this to be over but I’m enjoying seeing some of cabinets not look quite so stuffed.

I have found, safe on the internet, a copy of your lost PDF pattern for Peaches & Dreams. It was saved by the Internet Archive. I’ve tried twice to post the link, but apparently your spam filter is blocking it. I also emailed you with the link a few days ago, but my email must also have been blocked or junked.
Judy Laquidara says
Thank you! Glad you were able to find it. Yes, anything that has a link gets caught and I’m supposed to be notified but lately, I haven’t been getting notifications.

I have been making due and getting by and really cleaning out my cupboards in the kitchen. Yesterday I used a bit of bottled marinade that had been in there for at least 3 years. Why I had it in the first place who knows, because I usually make marinade from scratch, which is probably why it was in there for 3 years! Anyway, I was being lazy, saw it and used it. It had an odd taste. No, not because it was 3 years old (how can vinegar, soy sauce and spices get old), but because it was just odd. Now I am so glad it is out of the cupboard, but hitting myself over my head for having it in there so long!

I have had soy sauce go bad. I guess we all do it but at least we’re accomplishing something!

When I lived on the farm that is what we did. I don’t think we ever threw anything away. In fact there are old cars out there that my parents just drove into the field and left them. Because you never know when you might need a part or something! LOL
Judy Laquidara says
Sounds like around here with old lawn mowers and tillers and tools and sewing machines!

It’s amazing what we can do with what we already have. I may stay home forever!

I’m thinking the same thing.
