Darn . . this is bad timing but I think my Chromebook is about to leave me stranded without a computer I like. About six months ago, the screen started going black and I could mash it here or touch it there and it would come back on. Vince called HP and it was still under warranty but then it started working fine. Now, it’s probably out of warranty and even if it isn’t, trying to talk to someone at HP with everyone having a skeleton crew and then getting it shipped back is probably not happening.
We are definitely not going out to buy a computer!
Last night I asked Vince if he could get one of the older laptops working so if/when this one goes out, I’ll have something to use.
I think going back to a Windows computer after having had this Chromebook for close to a year may be hard to do. One funny thing is when I first got this Chromebook, it took me a long time to get use to not having a delete key. Control+backspace is the delete command. Now, when I am in the sewing room and working on the Windows desktop, I can’t figure out how to delete and all I have to do is hit the delete key!
With everything else going on, having computer issues is no big deal, especially since I still have the desktop. A bit in convenient but I am not going to complain. Cry maybe . . but not complain! 🙂

Fortunately, Chromebooks are cheap. I can’t believe it didn’t last more than a year, though. Regan bought one when they first came out, and he’s still using it, so that’s years and years!

I seem to be pretty hard on computers but it’s weird because everything else – sewing machines, Kindles, phones – they last me forever.

Seems like things happen at the most inopportune time! Did you hear about the woman from here dying from Covid19?
Judy Laquidara says
Yes! Sad!

I’m trying to find an “entry level” Chromebook for my 8 year old great grandson. He needs it since his older sister and brother are using theirs for school at home for the rest of the year. Unfortunately, there aren’t many of these left, so I’ve not pulled the trigger yet.

Yes, that’s what we noticed too. Stock is very limited. Vince thinks it’s better to buy another Chromebook than have to listen to me complain about having to use Windows again. I’m not sure what you call expensive but I think we paid less than $400 for the one I’m using now.
