I do enjoy test knits because there’s a deadline. I cannot let myself get sidetracked or start other projects before it’s finished so most of the projects I finish are test knit projects.
It’s a cowl and it needs DK weight yarn. I checked my spreadsheet last night and narrowed it down to two yarns: Blue Sky’s Woolstock in the October Sky colorway or Numma Numma TEXAS Toasty in the pico de gallo colorway.
I kinda felt like I should use the Blue Sky yarn because it’s a currently available yarn but I have 14 skeins of it and would only need 8 skeins, which means there would be 6 skeins left behind, or about 720 yards. The Numma Numma yarn is discontinued. I have five skeins – 1,120 yards I think. The pattern calls for 984 yards so I’ll use pretty much all of that yarn. And, the October Sky is a grayish blue – a great color; but the pico de gallo is an orange/red and I think that’s what I need to be working on right now . . a happy bright color.

I’m going to the sewing room to make one more mask, then I’m going to cast on and get started knitting.

Using almost all of a batch sounds good…then you don’t have to figure out what you can use the remainder with, or find a small project.

Plus it’s one less item on your spreadsheet!
