We have leftovers in the fridge for this entire week. I cooked a roast on Sunday but it was for Monday so technically, it wasn’t leftovers. So Monday was roast. Tuesday is leftover Chicken Piccata, Wednesday is leftover tomato soup, Thursday is leftover White Chicken Chili and Friday is leftover roast.
I had planned to do some baking on Monday. I want to experiment with some different wheat berries and yesterday was the perfect day. But, almost as soon as I got up, I had a desperate plea from my cousin for more masks. They had two more positive virus tests at her work so I told her I would get 10 made and in the mail to her. It ended up they closed her work til next Tuesday so that gave me a bit more time but I still wanted to get them made and in the mail.
I got 7 masks made yesterday. I’ll get more made today. I have several other friends needing some so I’m sure I’ll be making masks for a while.
I don’t know what cats know or what cats think or why people have cats in their house and especially in their sewing room but I think Boots is a creature of habit. In the early days, I sewed a lot and he was fine with that. Now that I don’t sew much I sit over there for hours and knit with him and I think he likes that. I sit and I don’t get up. He aggravates me at first but then he sleeps next to me, or partially on me or I take a nap and he sleeps next to me.
Does he even remember when I used to sew? Does he remember that he can’t eat thread, nor can he grab my fabric as it’s going through the sewing machine, or that he can’t sprawl out where I’ve just finished ironing part of my project . . just because it’s cozy and warm in that spot? Apparently either he doesn’t remember the rules or he doesn’t care and I suspect it’s some of both.
I was trying to iron the ties. I’d iron, pick them up to re-position them and he’d flop himself down on the warm towel that I was using for my ironing surface. That went on ALL day.
I talked to a friend last night who said she made 24 masks yesterday. 24 masks? I made 7 and I sewed all day. “Did you have a cat helping?” No! Well, that explains it.
Boots is the sweetest cat but he is pretty determined that he’s going to do what he wants to do . . and there’s no changing his mind.
Today is a new day. I’ll sew more masks. Maybe he’ll be tired of me being in his space and I won’t get quite as much “help” today.

Well all I can say he is a cat. He is doing what I think they all do to us. As I type mine is up in the middle of the desk where I sit. I’ve got the laptop in the front drawer using it. We do this each day so I’ve gotten use to it. He sometimes climbs over and tries to get on keys where he is close to me. They are what they are and get where they want but we love them anyway.

I hear ya on mask sewing time. I promised myself to sew 20 per day until the requests stop rolling in (retired RN so know lots of peeps). It takes me 5 hours to make 20. I do a lot of up/down just to move by body so I don’t exactly go at it efficiently.
Bless you for keeping those you love a bit safer!

Cats in the sewing room are a blessing and a curse. Being company is the blessing, trying to help, definitely a curse, LOL.

I miss my buddy in the sewing room even though he was a pest. But he just can’t navigate those stairs anymore in high old age. I made 5 masks over the weekend, 3 more yesterday, and 6 today. I’m kind of hoping that is the end of my mask making – because I would much rather quilt.

LOL, yes, but you have more fun than the cat-less friend. =)

What a beautiful cat.

I thought all cats were that way!! All of mine were! I had one Siamese that lived to be 24! I think if love could have kept him alive he would still be alive today! He was the sweetest cat! His name was Herman.

My sister had a Siamese cat when we were growing up and that was one hard to live with cat.

I thought I was done making masks now that I’m back to work, so I sent in the half dozen I made for the old folks home. Then my daughter asked for two, so I made those. She told her neighbor about them. She’s an RN and is okay at the hospital but wants them for her husband and 2 kids. Then my husband said we should have them, so that’s another 2, so now I have 5 to make this weekend. Hopefully that will be the end! My cats have learned to stay away when I sew, but haven’t figured out how to do that when I knit. One is always in my lap so if she stays still I let her stay there! If she starts to play with the yarn, that’s another story!
