This morning I called Nicole and Addie answered the phone. I was so happy to talk to her until I realized 7 year olds are now the new 13 year olds with their smart mouth!
We were talking about everything and I said “I can’t wait til I can come see you again!” and she said “Well, you can’t come because you’re AFRAID of the coronavirus!”
Several years ago, she and I were driving down the road and talking and something came up and I said “I’d be afraid to do that” and she said “You’re afraid of EVERYTHING!” I said “Did your daddy say that?” Yes!
This morning, I wanted to say “If your parents were paying attention, they’d be afraid of the coronavirus too” but . . I didn’t say that! I said “Yes, I am afraid of the coronavirus and I’m listening to people who say we should be staying home . . like the reason why your school is closed. Some day I’ll be able to come see you!”
Kids . . and grandkids!

You should tell her you are WISE not afraid (even if you are), and that WISE people follow the advice of doctors who are telling us to to stay home to protect the health of others. 🙂

That would be insinuating that her parents are not wise and though I may think it, I probably shouldn’t plant that seed in her head.

My four year old great granddaughter has come up with. The world is sick that’s why she can’t see us.

Yes, I notice that mouth on 8-yo Miss R, in spite of how kind she still is in most areas. =)
Nelle Coursey says
Even though it is hard, this is the wise thing to do. I figure her parents are scared enough to keep her home and teach her this is not a good thing.
