The plan for today is to get a few tomatoes planted.
Most everything we plant this year will be in containers and raised beds.
These buckets contained some kind of sorghum high protein feed for cows (I think). Vince has cleaned them up and they will be the beginning of our garden.
We hope to have lots of tomatoes – time will tell.

are you doind the type of container gardening that is a DIY for “earthtainers”? We’ve been doing it for years with great results (tomatoes mainly) and watering is forgiving, there is no weeding, and we never have to worry about gophers, moles, etc. our pantry is stocked with canned tomatoes which is great with our short growing season.
we use rubbermaid storage containers, folgers empty plastic containers for the wicking, pvc pipe for the watering shoot, and a trashbag for the weed barrier — all things we had on hand or asked friends to save for us. they stay outside thru the snowy winter and have sustained well over 7 years. they are in a dog run to keep the deer away.
VERY low maintenance.

I have been gardening in ‘cow pots’ for a few years now. tomato plants do well, as do peppers and cucumbers. my sister plants her flowers in them …. they are all over her yard.

Wow, my gardening is only at the planning stage. I still have a foot of snow/ice in the yard. And as I type this, more of those tiny white flakes are falling! Grrrrrr.
