We have a new peach tree that’s blooming and it’s one we just planted last year. I thought it was an LSU peach but I must have forgotten where I live.

I did a little research and found that A&M has come up with this Royal/Golden Zest line of trees that get ripe at different times, Royal Zest I being the earliest (and therefore, probably most prone to frost/freeze damage), all the way through the latest ripening peach, the Golden Zest, that gets ripe in late June. If you’re interested, you can read about it here.

It’s hard to get a decent picture with the wind blowing but the blooms are much different from our other peach trees.

I’m anxious to see what the new peaches are like.

I just planted a peach tree, “Muir” it is a semi dwarf, late blooming and fruiting type. I may be on the edge of its happy place to grow, but I thought I would give it a try. Early peaches are flowering around here now too.

Good luck with it. It’s so fun to watch them bloom and then hope for a few peaches.

Nothing better than a ripe sweet peach.
