This morning I woke up before daylight. A thought ran through my head . . I had drained the oil from the freeze dryer yesterday. I drain it into a big plastic cup, place that in the freezer for a few days for the water in the oil to freeze in the bottom of the cup, then filter the oil and re-use it. The oil is a very thick blue oil. The thought that ran though my head . . I had left it sitting on the counter in the sewing room. Boots, like all cats, is so inquisitive and while checking out what’s in the cup, he would knock it over . . onto the carpet. It’s happened before and it is not fun to clean up. Remembering I left that oil out got me out of bed quickly! Thankfully, Boots had not knocked it over.
I whipped up 4 dozen eggs to go into the freeze dryer.
Got that going, then went to the garden and cut the asparagus. It takes about 8 cups to fill the freeze dryer so that’s a couple of days of picking it.
I cut the asparagus every day so by the time the eggs are done and the freeze dryer is ready for another load, I’ll have enough asparagus to fill it.
Next on the agenda was getting the next batch of sauerkraut going.
Vince is out working on getting the buckets ready for the container gardens. Busy but fun times here today.

It does sound like fun times – always something to be doing, and doing it together. =)
