I had mentioned last week that Vince and I are trying to learn more about herbal remedies and about foraging for wild plants that have culinary and/or medicinal value.
Before we go any farther, here’s the caveat: I know nothing about herbal medicine, am not recommending herbal medicine . . I’m just telling you something we’re doing here.
Last night Vince sent me a link to this video about herbal remedies. I watched it and just below it, was a link to another video and I started watching it.
A month or so ago, we were watching something and it recommended this book. It was kinda hard to find but we found it and I’ve taken it to bed with me every night. The lady who co-wrote this book, Nicole Apelian, was who was doing the second video. I remembered seeing her on the Survivor type show she was on. I was so excited. Vince was taking a long, soaking bath. I wish I could sit and relax in the tub but I think of a million things I’d rather be doing and have to make myself stay in it 5 minutes. He can sit in there for hours! That’s good though because he gets relaxed, calm and mellow.
After I watched her video, Vince came back in and we watched it on TV together. I was so excited . . I couldn’t even go to sleep. I read til about 1 a.m., turned the light off, tried to go to sleep, turned the light back on about 2 and read til 3. About 7 a.m., Vince said “Are you ready to get up?” No, not really . . but I will! 🙂
I think tonight I’m going to try to go to bed without the book.

One important thing to remember is to check for compatibility of herbal medicines with any scripts you are taking. And, tell your doctor if you consume a lot of the herbs on a consistent basis.
Judy Laquidara says
I don’t take any scripts but I will make a list of anything I do start taking. Thanks for that reminder.

No advice from me other than … what a great idea to find out what has been used for generations to solve everyday problems!

My Grandmother and Mother grew their own medicines, I used to think they were so dumb when I was young (and the dumb one.. how old fashioned when all my friends’ families were going to the dr’s). How wise they were for sure !
Judy Laquidara says
Definitely! And the more I learn, the more I realize we’re padding someone’s pockets more than we’re doing what’s best for us. There are new and modern medicines are are life saving for sure but there are also things we can do on our own and we seem to have lost that ability.

I always say that but then I always turn my Kindle on and read. If it is a good book I get in to it and don’t know when to stop. Like last night when I read until after 3!! It really was a good book!!

I’m looking for that book. Heard about it today on a Facebook group I’m on. Where did you find it?
