During the times when I’m certain I will not buy yarn, and I always said the same thing about fabric – if there’s something I really want, I’m going to get it. I’m just going to hope those times don’t come along very often.
One of those times came along this week! It started with Eat, Sleep, Knit having a Yarn Love trunk show. Yarn Love is an indie dyer brand and it’s a brand I like but haven’t used much.
I have a bit of it in my stash but not a tremendous amount and I probably would not have ordered any except one of the sweaters in the trunk show is Sanguine Sweater. The sweater shown on the pattern is beautiful and I love it but the sweater made by the Yarn Love lady made me gasp . . it is so pretty. She used Arabian Nights for the background.
And Glimmer for the only contrast.
My first thought was that I wanted a deep gray or black for the main color so I ordered Black Coffee.
The Black Coffee and Glimmer arrived yesterday. I liked it together but wanted to wait til I saw the Arabian Nights with the Glimmer before deciding what to use.
It’s really hard to tell because the purple photographs darker than it really is but the purple looks so much better with the Glimmer so . . Arabian Nights and Glimmer. That’s what I’ll use.
There’s another colorwork sweater I want to make and the main color for that one needs 1,312 yards. With six skeins of the Amy March DK, that gives me 1680 yards so I have enough to swatch with that and still make the sweater using Black Coffee as the main color.
My goal is to work really hard this week to finish up a couple of projects and then I can cast on Sanguine next weekend but, I may have to work on the others a little longer. The next new sweater I start will definitely be Sanguine.

Where do the boots fit in here on this plan? The ones you just wound the cakes for yesterday.

The boots are finished. I just need to felt them. They were quick to make.

I tried to find the sweater to see what you liked so much, but I couldn’t find it, only the yarns.

Those are gorgeous together!
The black coffee is a nice background, but for something else.
I looked up the Sanguine sweater, and found very multi-colored versions. I’m having trouble picturing it in two yarns.
