Texas Forestry Service has a location very near us and every year, they have a training session/prescribed burn and it’s this week. I don’t usually worry too much about it because I know they monitor the weather conditions and won’t take any unnecessary risks, but still . . I’m glad when it’s over.
Several years ago, the wind was blowing the smoke our direction and it was just awful. In fact, when they announced the dates for the training, I had hoped to plan a trip to MO and not even be here when they were doing it but we didn’t make it to MO and luck for us, the wind, at least yesterday, kept the smoke away from us.
That’s smoke . . not clouds. Today is the last day so I’m hoping the wind keeps the worst of the smoke away from us again, but if not . . I’ll be thankful they’re doing what they do to keep the fuel source down so when we’re in the midst of wildfire season, we’re a bit more protected because of their efforts.

Even though a controlled burn chased us out of our favorite camping spot one year, I support what they are doing, too. Same reason.
Judy Laquidara says
Definitely. We’ve already been having wild fires in the area so I’m very happy they keep the property behind us in as good a condition as they can to help avoid fires back there.

I was so glad the wind was blowing in the other direction! But we can still smell it in the evenings!
Judy Laquidara says
Last night was the only night we could smell it really strong.
