These chickens think every time we go outside, we have treats for them. They come running up to us and follow us around the entire time we’re out working. I can take a handful of their feed from their food bucket, throw it out and they’re as happy as can be. They think it’s special.
If we’re walking and stop, they will actually run into us. Forget trying to walk around outside with something in my hand that’s not for them. They’ll take me down! Not really but when I go out to the greenhouse and grab mint or basil, if they can see it, they’re flying/jumping trying to get whatever is in my hand.
This has nothing to do with the chickens but we’ve never had many acorns here til this past year. Last spring was very rainy for us and I guess the oak trees were happy. The ground under the oak trees is covered with acorns. It’s everywhere on the property. It’s funny because I never noticed that we didn’t have many acorns til we had an abundance of acorns.

We have a massive oak tree in our front yard, along with several smaller ones. We get a huge amount of acorns every year, but between the deer, squirrels, chipmunks and many other wild animals, by spring they’re pretty much gone. I don’t mind, because if they’re eating them, they aren’t eating my bird seed!!

Loads of acorns is suppose to mean hard winter and hard summer. to make more trees and good for animals grandmaw said
