Communicating Skills

This morning I was looking back over recent Facebook messages with Chad. One of us needs to improve our communication skills – probably me! I need to learn to ask questions that do not yield themselves to one word answers. Usually, I’m in a hurry and message him with a question or something I’ve thought of and need to tell him. Otherwise, I call him, but when he’s at work, and I think of something, I just send a message because I know I’ll forget by the time he’s off work and has time to talk to me.

The blue is my part of the conversation. The one word responses are Chad. I almost typed “Vince” because that’s the same way most of our conversations go.

You can see that I’ve typed a lot and he says “Thanks”.

I didn’t type a whole lot but he said “OK”.

I typed a lot and he said “Ok”.

The top blue box was quite long. I said something else and he said “No”.

Hey! I got a “Yes”. I probably said “Are you tired of me messaging you?” 🙂

I think one word responses are a guy thing! My boys do this to me, too

My grandson who is a college freshman does the same to me. I will ask him 2 questions and get “yes” and “yes”. To that I reply “good” and “good”. After that I will get maybe a sentence for a couple of weeks. At least he always replies. His 3 sisters often never respond.

At least the one words are spelled correctly. LOL Regan’s are always good, but Paul’s I have to look at six ways from Sunday to figure out sometimes. LOL
