Did anyone get the foot made up to the point of adding stitches for the gusset? Gusset instructions begin on the bottom of page 3 of the pattern.
It’s a bit hard to photograph but the end of the foot portion “flares” out with the added gusset stitches and this will be the part of the sock that kinda wraps around the side of the heel.
This part isn’t going to take long to add – not many stitches – at least compared to the amount of knitting for the foot.
Next post on this KAL will be on February 23 so if you’re wanting to keep up, you’ll have time to finish the foot, get the gusset knitted and then we’ll knit/shape the heel.
Please holler if you have any questions or need help.

Judy, thanks to you I bought this pattern, but won’t have time for sock knitting until I finish a couple of quilts for a show. I’d love for you to do another KAL this fall. No pressure. 🙂 I will say his math was spot on for my feet (I’d already figured out a basic pattern for my long, narrow foot). I’m looking forward to using heavier weight yarn next time.

I have another inch to go on sock #1 and then I will be ready to start the gusset later today. I love the pattern. unfortunately I am a sloooow knitter.

I don’t think you’re a slow knitter. That was a lot to get done on that first step.

I am looking forward to hearing about the next part. I have the foot done and the few rows for the added gussett part. I have been struggling with the next part for a few weeks, off & on. I understand the GSR but the video of GSR does not add a stitch per the pattern (mk1l or mk1r) on each end so this is confusing. Can’t wait to see what I an doing wrong to get to my total # of stitches!

I would suggest following the pattern instructions (bottom of page 2/top of page 3).
I’m doing a blog post now (2/21) on this.

Hi Judy, thanks for this KAL as I have wanted to knit toe up socks forever. I have the socks knitted to the gusset and that went smoothly enough, but then I tried the GSR and needless to say, I failed on the first and second attempt. I’m going to try and fix back to the gusset and watch GSR videos and try again. Wish me luck!
