Vince worked in the garden most of the day today. I went out later and worked a bit. Even though I almost always say I’m not going to plant a garden, this is the time of year I’m anxious to play in the dirt.
Vince also spent some time trimming limbs that were growing over the driveway and touching one of the chicken coop roofs. I’m so tired and I know he is but we got a lot done.
We do have asparagus that will be ready to pick in a day or two. Our one old artichoke looks good but none of the smaller ones I planted last year survived.
We ate kale out of the garden today. The carrots and beets I planted are doing good. We also had green beans for dinner – beans I had canned a couple of years ago.
It’s hard to plant and maintain a decent garden and spend a lot of time in MO so I have to decide what I want to do . . as much as I want a garden, that’s probably not what will win out. As I’ve said before, I feel like there aren’t that many years that (1) Addie will want to spend a lot of time with me and (2) I’ll me able to drive back and forth to MO by myself so i’l probably opt for time spent in MO. I’m kinda hoping Addie will come back to Texas with me and spend some time this summer. That could allow me to spend time with her AND have a garden . . who knows what any of us will do.

I bet she would love playing in the dirt with you!!

Oh, Addie at your house would be a wonderful thing! Her parents could have some date time alone for a while, and you and she could have the wonderful farm time so many children never have now!
