Sock Madness is coming up and my friend, Beth, did it last year and it looked so fun. I’ve done it before but I know my hands and shoulder cannot stand up to competition knitting. I told Beth last week that I was thinking about doing it and she said “Do it! It’s so much fun!” It is fun but I know I can’t do it plus, it’s a whole lot of time at a site I don’t enjoy spending time visiting.
But, I went ahead and registered, which doesn’t mean I have to do it.
Yesterday Beth and I were chatting and talking about the “warm up” patterns. One is full of cables and a beautiful sock. I went stash diving and came up with this yarn.
It’s Sweet Georgia’s Tough Love Sock and the color is Azalea, which is probably a discontinued color since I don’t see it on the ESK site but it is the most beautiful pink and has just enough tone to make it so pretty that I don’t even want to use it. The good news is that there are several more skeins of it in the stash.
I cast on for the warm up sock pattern that is full of cables. I know that cables draw in a piece (making it smaller) but there were way too many stitches and even with the cables, it was going to big on my foot. I thought . . I could make these for Vince but I don’t think he would love cable socks and I know he wouldn’t want pink socks. So .. I ripped it back. How many projects can I rip back in one week? Let’s just say three and call it good because I’d prefer not to rip anything else back.
I need to finish those orange socks because they’re on my favorite sock needles and then I think I’ll cast on the socks, using the pink yarn, that I want to photograph to go with our Sock knit along starting February 27.

The sock madness I used to do had an option to be a cheerleader. You only had to complete 1 sock in 2 weeks at the beginning. To be on a team, you had to complete a whole pair in the 2 weeks. I got all the patterns, but I didn’t have to hard part. This year, I don’t think I even have time to do the cheerleader route. It’s ok, though. I have a ton of sock patterns, and I have been considering designing some of my own patterns…

In an earlier post you said our Sock KAL would start on February 17. In this post you mentioned Feb 27 which is fine with me….or is that a different Sock KAL…..

It’s a pretty color, and I don’t even like pink.
